I just don't see a major insurgency. There will be a political solution, IMO, rather than a prolonged struggle. The Russians are not just rolling with tanks and jets leveling the country. I have seen very few reports of civilian casualties and destruction of public infrastructure. Clearly, Putin wants Zelensky to fold and allow the installation of a pro-Russian "transition" government of some sort.

The war will be over before any of this aid can make a difference.

12z Euro has more snow for northern MD than NNE for the first part of March. Probably time to just pull the plug on this winter and start thinking spring activities. And I don't mean spring skiing.

Yeah, sun is getting strong. 20 degrees but still settling and some melting. Sure would be nice to have my old 30" pack right now instead of about 8" This new pack would disappear in about 10 minutes in a cutter. Let's get some fluff on it this week at least. If I can't build pack, I'd rather it at least snow constantly and keep refreshing.

They are definitely going to just install a puppet regime. They are being very careful to not destroy public infrastructure or harm civilians. People in Ukraine still have food, water, electricity, Internet, etc. There are videos of people in Ukraine just casually going about their business still as the media claims "fighting is raging" all around them. This whole deal is more of a Ukrainian civil conflict with Russia intervening to prop up their side. I expect a political resolution soon; a deal for Zelensky and his cronies is being worked in the background. The idea that the Ukrainians are rising up in a notable way or this is some brutal destruction campaign by Russia doesn't seem to be true. That still doesn't make it right, but it further emphasizes why this is not our fight.

Latest GYX disco points to a “snowy week” ahead for the mountains given the persistent NW flow and disturbances moving through one after the other. Would be nice to finally get a good run of upslope days to stack up some powder. Happy to take a break from synoptic stuff and just let climo and geography take over.
