  1. I agreed with this a lot more a year ago. It doesn't make any sense now. Unfortunately, govt and social inertia is a thing and it slows down course changes.
  2. It's been over a year now with restrictions. FL and TX are literally fine. The huge spike in cases/deaths many predicted there never materialized. I can't think of any legit reason to continue with any restrictions. Case law from 100 years ago or not...
  3. Where's the "relevant case law" that provides for vaccinated people remaining under restrictions? Or is that some of the new case law being developed as we speak?
  4. People have always been allowed to be extra careful and wear masks. That has always been an option and will continue to be an option forever. People with compromised immune systems have lived the "COVID life" for a long time now. No Federal mandates needed.
  5. It has been normalized for many people. No one will mind if someone decides to keep masking after mandates are lifted. But it needs to be optional, like wearing a hat and gloves.
  6. When Biden came into office, things went a little overboard with the masks in some govt spaces (especially anything related to the Federal govt) because he was kinda obsessed with everyone "masking up" all the time as the answer to the pandemic. It was taken a bit too far, IMO. BTW, the rules on Federal installations have not been eased for vaccinated people either... this is all on Biden at this point.
  7. My office space is on a Federal installation and since Biden took over, you need to wear a mask 100% of the time inside and outside, 24 hours a day...
  8. Yeah but your job is more outside and active right? Sitting in cube a stuffy office all day with a mask on is going to suck a lot more than riding ski lifts and blazing through the glades on your way to check on snowmaking operations.
  9. If you turn off the TV, it's suddenly over. I keep trying to explain that to the older crowd I know who watches cables news 24/7. If you are retired and vaxxed, just turn off the TV and COVID goes away.
  10. Luckily I don't need to hire Amazon delivery boys so I don't need to worry about what they think.
  11. You guys would be shocked by the number of job candidates I have had this year literally tell me they will die if they have to come to work. It's been at least 2 dozen. Many of them are obviously deadly serious about it. On the flip side, I had one recently tell me being forced to WFH made his "eyeballs hurt" because he couldn't look at fellow people and instead had to sit in his tiny apartment all day. These are all degreed engineers and technicians with high-level security clearances. I can't imagine the craziness going on in places such as stores and restaurants.
  12. OMG It's already getting ugly. This is why I have to think about COVID all the time. Scenarios like this are already a nightmare and people are SO TWEAKED now and making it worse. It's very hard to even discuss this rationally with some employees now. Many of them shriek that their lives are in danger or that their basic freedoms are being taken away from them. People are nuts these days. It's a shitshow.
  13. If the desire is to eliminate any possibility of risk, then you can basically never take off the mask or get within six feet of people. Humans are so bad at accurately assessing real risk. Is a .009% chance of catching COVID demonstrably different than a .0001% chance in terms of real life? No, they are the same very, very tiny risk.
  14. I’m not aware of the medical community treating vaccinated people like this before. You get the vaccine and still need to avoid people? No wonder people are being hesitant.
  15. The CDC is likely never going to get to the point where they say everyone can freely take off the masks for good. They will certainly continue to say that unvaccinated people "should" wear masks at all times when not totally alone. They may even say that vaccinated people need to keep wearing masks "in certain situations." They are always going to err on the side of caution. The question is, will governments and businesses adhere to this guidance?
  16. I think it is pretty obvious they will be offered, just like the yearly flu shot is offered. Whether you "need" it or not will hopefully be left up to personal choice.
  17. The virus has ripped though the world several times over already. Most people realize now if they are under the age of 65, relatively healthy and fit, and don't have major underlying diseases the risk from COVID is very low. For some people, the idea of getting on a lifetime treadmill of experimental shots every 6 months for a virus that is becoming less and less lethal is not a very attractive prospect. COVID will really start to head into background noise endemic territory now. People will get the vaccine some years simply if they don't feel like getting COVID, just like with the flu vaccine. I just hope our govt allows us to evaluate risk on our own and doesn't try to drive towards some unachievable "zero deaths" metric.
  18. LOL I sure hope not. The govt probably shouldn't be in the business of yelling "FIRE!" in crowded theaters to scare people into compliance.
  19. Hey bigot... you need to #TrustTheScience or else.
  20. Move north. 61 and sun in Randolph.
  21. Just a couple weeks ago the CDC director was in tears literally predicting “doom.” LOL
  22. Just open now. Texas and Florida are fine.
  23. Hard to draw a pattern on who gets sick from the vaccine. The old/young split is just about the only seemingly firm signal I've seen, although there are plenty of anecdotes refuting that rule too. I'm sure it's being studied as millions get vaccinated. Should give us some really good data going forward for mRNA vaccines on who is susceptible to serious side effects.
  24. LOL penis chafing maybe? That would be more a sexual harassment issue, I assume. I will ask my insurance lawyer next time and see what he says. He usually has an explanation for every crazy thing.
