  1. LOL I would love to but my wife would kill me. She loves snow Nov to Mar. After that, it’s spring and summer mode. That’s the trade off. I get her to stay up there Nov to Mar but then she wants beach and pool for 4 months.
  2. Yeah, seems like late season is when my spot separates from the rest of the pack.
  3. Yeah anything with a dominant south wind will not perform well here. In a coastal pattern, I will be buried.
  4. Early winter had some bleak moments too, to be fair. Grinch was a killer. I am very happy with where the winter ended up despite the challenges. My spot performed well right when I expected it would. I am starting to see the kind of winters where Randolph will crush and where I will struggle.
  5. If you are Macbook user, you need to upgrade to the M1 chip MacBook. The battery life is next-level. It's not just a small upgrade. It's a game changer. All day and then some. Full brightness and all.
  6. They are clearly the future, but some of the technology/infrastructure around them is not quite there yet. With the higher voltage chargers, they definitely become more reasonable. But that adds to the cost and puts them firmly in "just doing this for the environment" territory still. And even that is debatable.
  7. Randolph CoCoRaHS site has recorded 147.1" so far this season. I will add 3 inches to that because the very early April event is missing. I recorded about 3" in that event. So let's call it a round 150" so far, usual caveats apply (observer may or not be 90 years old -- LOL). April blew away March. Just crushed it. Kinda bummed I missed it. So still tons of head room for a better winter in Randolph, based on the record. Already miss ski season.
  8. 80s and sitting by the pool in MD. Sounds like in Randolph they need to keep the shovels waxed for a couple more weeks.
  9. Where were these huge wrapped-up coastals all winter? I would have recorded 250" if they had hit in February and March when it was 15 degrees outside.
  10. A+ for me. Very excited about next winter given that this one was technically below average in most respects.
  11. I have stayed away from crypto because it seems ripe to suddenly be forced into heavy govt regulation/taxation mode and crash in value since there is literally nothing underpinning it except hopes and dreams. Actually, with rising interest rates, I am being pushed away from bonds as well. I also don't want to buy any more houses. LOL Need a different safe bet for investing some excess cash.
  12. Heck of a way to run a warm season so far.
  13. My PWS says 2.45" but that's probably high. I am not there to check the stratus. But a good soak either way.
  14. That place is always jam-packed for whatever reason. It's impossible to get in there for dinner or even lunch most days. Definitely has a following. Same gang that hits Cracker Barrel frequently maybe?
  15. Last week we had people going to the mat to defend the honor of Big Pharma, this week we have people arguing it's a good thing when Wal-Mart and Texas Roadhouse push out all the small shops and restaurants from a town (more variety and lower prices!). It's almost as if some people reflexively take the opposite position from what they actually believe just because it's me on the other side of the debate.
  16. 1.81" in Randolph. Good timing for the drink as things leaf-out and bloom.
  17. I get it. I never cease to be amazed by the basic skills they also lack. Many of them cannot manage their personal and work schedules, can’t take notes or follow directions, and struggle with prioritization when in a multi-tasking environment. My theory is that college doesn’t really force students to learn these techniques anymore. The notes are simply handed out to everyone and then you regurgitate them back during a test.
  18. You must just be an old crusty Boomer who doesn't understand how these young people are working so much smarter than you did.
  19. Why are you referencing an upper class suburb when we are clearly discussing lower-income populations and minimum wage jobs? Clearly there is still a market for boutique shops in a place like rural VT that serves a wealthy tourist market. I said that right up-front. The number of "mom and pop" shops that exist today is a tiny fraction compared to what existed decades ago.
  20. There are actual metrics of civilization we can track and for the first time in US history some of them are not improving generation to generation... It doesn't have to just be a "feel" thing... we can quantify it by looking at factors such as home ownership, marriage/divorce rates, percentage of children born to single mothers, wages, educational attainment, literacy, life expectancy, etc. The jury is still out on GenZ, but the numbers don't look good for the Millennials who should be in their prime right now. They won't surpass their Boomer parents, it doesn't appear.
  21. They need a MacBook Pro, a brand new iPhone, an extensive wardrobe, a nice apartment, a new car, and plenty of spending money to eat out and take Ubers when drunk in order to have the most basic of lifestyles!
  22. What suburbs are you visiting? LOL Most are wastelands of chain stores and chain restaurants. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but to deny that local businesses have been almost totally wiped out in many suburbs is kinda nutty... It's a real issue and denying it doesn't help anyone.
  23. But prices have already been creeping up even at fast food joints. Agreed that these places need to operate on volume. Been saying that along. That's why restricting them to 25% capacity and saying they can be "open" was basically the same as making them stay closed.
