  1. 66/45 out there. Back to beautiful NNE weather.
  2. Broke up before it got here. Up to 60 now with the sun coming out.
  3. That house is like having 10 acres of manicured lawn in Phoenix. Just shoving it in mother nature’s face and daring her to do something about it. LOL
  4. I was just thinking how awesome this radar would be in winter. Heaviest rain of the entire event right now.
  5. What is this little finger of shit on radar hitting NNH now? Back down to 46 with mod rain.
  6. Like when the best weather on the beach vacation is the day you drive in and the day you drive out. Been there many times.
  7. There was a period in very early Feb when the snow had overwhelmed me and I was crying uncle. The NNE crew remembers. LOL so many decks to clear. If that had kept up, I would have been buried literally and figuratively. The retention here is next-level. But we went into desert mode and it didn’t snow again in a big way until mid-April.
  8. The heat has been the most surprising thing to me so far. Second to that is that the cold in the winter hasn’t been impressive. Just one summer and winter under the belt though so I’m sure things can be very different some years. I will say the shoulder seasons are far more fearsome here than down south. November and April can bite.
  9. I have a portable unit on wheels I can use in the bedroom. I exhaust it through an old drier vent line in the bedroom. The windows are crank-out type so not as simple as putting in window units. We didn’t consider this an issue when we bought the house because we planned to not be here much in the summers. We can just leave if it gets too hot.
  10. Yeah, seems like some people are starting to admit at least part of the mask policies are based on “sending a message” and “respect” instead of any scientific or medical principle. Some people wear politically-charged red baseball caps even though they know it will be offensive, some people wear masks even when there is zero reason to do so. Humans are tribal like that. I am just glad we all have the choice now.
  11. Looks like the cold and rain were at least enough to do a number on the bugs. Haven’t seen a fly or mosquito today at all. Also knocked down the pollen.
  12. I prefer the rugged close-up views from my backyard over the more distant rolling hills vibe from that house. But it's gorgeous inside for sure. I wouldn't kick that house out of bed for sure.
  13. LOL yeah that is true. You need to be careful when buying a remote place like that. You need to have a large budget for upkeep and a lot of patience. It can take a while and cost a lot of money to get tradesmen and landscapers in.
  14. Correct, this house does not have it. It's usually fine. The evenings when it is 70+ degrees at 9:00 PM with 80%+ humidity are pretty bad, though. Luckily, that is fairly rare here.
  15. Isn’t personal choice and capitalism awesome? Things work a lot better when the government stays out of it.
  16. 80/50 stuff isn’t too bad, I agree. I don’t have AC here so for me any humidity really sucks. There is no escape.
  17. There is definitely a sense you get here that the plants and wildlife know they have realistically three months of reliably warm weather to do their thing. They come out swinging right away. No slow roll-out of spring. They also disappear just as quickly in September.
  18. Blech. Glad I will be gone by then. 90s and dews suck up here.
  19. 0.30" Pretty meh. Not worth days of cold gloom for this.
  20. I can't imagine the maintenance on a house like that at that elevation. Dealing with this house at 1550' is enough. The climate at elevation in NNE can rapidly destroy decks, roofs, siding, landscaping, etc. Not just snow, but factors such as ground frost pushing on decks also wreak havoc. It's going to be a constant battle for the owners of that house to keep it from degrading into junk status.
  21. Up to a quarter inch. Was hoping for a lot more than this. Guess I need to wait until Thanksgiving and Christmas for the big NNE rains.
  22. Theaters are in big trouble. They were before the pandemic, but 2020 pushed up their demise by several years.
  23. A bust here so far. 0.07” 42 degrees and raw. Would prefer some downpours to at least make it worth it.
  24. Seems like a lot of MA people are just one meth hit away from needing to move to Berlin, NH.
