  1. Yeah, that works too. I just think the NNE ski areas need to really get hammered here. Some 0.65" liquid fringe job at 15 degrees while SNE is getting 2" of water won't be a game changer here. It'll "feel" like a "region wide win" but you know what I am getting at here.
  2. Hope it's an absolute bomb for NNE followed by a blast of upslope. Some weak POS that dumps on BOS and clips us isn't going to help much at this point. You guys in SNE will need to get a ton of rain so that NNE can get the kind of event that can save good spring skiing.
  3. Decent snow showers today. Would be nice to have them falling on a 30" pack instead of slush puddles, but whatever.
  4. Power is out as rain lashes the windows. Nice winter feel. Real Currier & Ives stuff.
  5. Power just went out here. This POS has way over stayed its welcome now.
  6. BW's back to just manmade trails again. Hard to believe this is the second complete melt out in less than a month.
  7. Yeah tons of running water out there. Wet as hell. This has been quite a stretch above freezing that just keeps going.
  8. Still 35. Snowpack is totally nuked here now. Mostly clean slate yet again other than plow piles.
  9. NNE really needs a wet snow 2 footer followed by upslope and cold temps.
  10. Open to what exactly? Be careful, they are still vulnerable.
  11. Salt water and electronics are a bitch, though.
  12. I have a boat that sits in a marina all summer and that all sounds like a great way to have another component that breaks and costs 3,000 dollars to fix.
  13. Haha yeah I am sometimes out there directing my gang to go to the left or the right side of a trail when I can see from above that clearly the middle section is just totally worn out and down to sheet ice. I'm shouting "stay left, go right, off to the side!!" as they proceed to slide sideways down the middle anyway. Then at the bottom they are all "dad it's too icy today" and I'm like "yeah you should have gone to the right/left when I was shouting it!" LOL
  14. Knowing the mountain obviously helps a ton too like you are saying. Even BW has groomed trails that always seem to be a little icy (Starr King, Deception Bowl, Darby's Drop, sometimes Zealand and Water Tank) unless the conditions are just perfect across the mountain. We blast around over there with our eyes closed and can tell right away if it's one of those days where the usual suspect trails will be rough, so we avoid them. When we went to Sunday River and Wildcat the first time it was all exploratory and we had a lot of mixed conditions. Now we are learning those mountains better too. For the weekend warriors who come up once a year, yeah I can see the challenges at any of these mountains.
  15. He can just go north. We are out by the fire pit with the peaks in the background.
  16. Is this piece of shit snowing on someone in the United States at least?
  17. I do think people drive further for the groomers at BW. Clearly, that’s their bread and butter. I can see how people get bored there. I get bored and go to Wildcat. I would imagine people drive further for the off-trail stuff over your way. I think that’s exactly what you are getting at. People also probably drive further to get to Cannon or Wildcat and do battle there. It’s great to be in NNE and have options!
  18. For whatever reason, today was not as bad as the first cutter in Feb. That one obliterated my 30” pack in a few hours. 60 degree rain will do that I guess. The rain with this one fell at 30 degrees and then the warmth came when it was dry. Taking a hit here but still great coverage aside from my windblown south spots.
  19. We will get back out tomorrow. Doesn’t look too bad.
  20. He is limited to five posts a day for a reason.
  21. I figure I will get some more decent snow and then I will get to watch it melt down again for the fourth time.
