  1. I guess. They will need to do this basically forever now if the goal is zero cases.
  2. Sydney, a city of about 5.4 million people, is going back on a strict lockdown over 100 cases. People should be much more frightened of the government’s willingness to do this for such a small threat than they are of the virus.
  3. Best bet is to remain at home and be safe. I would also suggest disabling your Internet connection to avoid the increasingly severe cyber attacks we are seeing.
  4. I just wonder why only the US military is coming forward with this stuff when billions of people have a camera in their pocket at all times across the earth at this point.
  5. The US military wants more funding.
  6. I'm sure this is someone who said things similar to the following very confidently at various points: "They will never shut down businesses." "Hospitals are overwhelmed war zones." "They will never force people to wear masks." "They will never shut down the schools." "They will never simply give people money to stay unemployed." "They will never actively work to hide the origins of the virus." "Texas and Florida will have a large surge in cases soon." "Kids are starting to die in larger numbers." "They will never suddenly lift all mandates seemingly overnight." "They will never bring back mandates now that they have been lifted." "They will never argue that we should vaccinate toddlers." "The new variants are much deadlier." Plenty of sheepish people out there who spent all of 2020 being constantly wrong who are STILL calling people conspiracy theorists for making very straightforward predictions. It's gullibility, I guess.
  7. Probably best to start listening to the “conspiracy theorists” a little more. A bunch of them were pretty accurate in 2020 despite folks like yourself doubting every step of the way.
  8. Identity politics is ultimately a fruitless and self-destructive dead end. The ultimate reductionist fantasy that helps no one in the end.
  9. Yep, would be a great excuse for the govt to severely limit Internet access and set up national biometric tracking systems.
  10. My opinion on Canada is probably not good fodder for this thread and subforum so I won't peddle it in here. I just think it's silly for them to still be so locked down that their MLB team has to play in Buffalo, NY.
  11. Probably just bodies now unless there is a miracle air pocket situation.
  12. Countries such as Canada and Australia are currently undergoing a "societal reset." The governments there will keep the restrictions and social engineering efforts going as they quietly pivot the rationale from fighting COVID to fighting inequality, climate change, and cybersecurity threats. These things will all be used to restrict people's freedoms and force them to become more and more dependent on the government. I definitely expect harsher Internet lockdowns to become the norm in these countries, followed by harsher electricity and fuel usage restrictions and food shortages. All in the name of the mommy state keeping you safe.
  13. The Blue Jays should just stay in Buffalo. F*ck Canada.
  14. A lot of these little towns are run by a handful of people elected by another handful of their friends and neighbors. Lots of little weird ordinances around.
  15. Maybe the gas station owner is from Vermont.
  16. I wonder when the last cries of "wait two more weeks for the surge!!!" will finally die out? Still running strong here with some, it seems. Meanwhile, they have been partying in Texas and Florida for many months now even with the scary variants floating around on the breeze.
  17. Damn, some good wives of posters in this thread. Lucky gents.
  18. Some how, some way... we will survive. Pray for my safety.
  19. Yeah, probably still a lot of local regs on the books out there. Also may be dependent on how spooked or compliance/risk-minded the individual business owners are. I don't usually stop in southern NH when I come up so I am not sure where they ever landed with masks. Last time I was in NJ at a rest stop in early June I know they were still totally masked-up and "socially distanced." Not sure if they have eased up since then.
  20. I haven't seen any businesses I want to go to requiring vaccines. It appears the dream some had of us unvaccinated buttheads finally getting our comeuppance has fizzled out.
  21. I haven't worn a mask since mid-April, I think. That time is in the past.
  22. I can assure you the unvaccinated are not worried about it.
  23. That all looks cosmetic to me, but it's just a blurry picture. Impossible to say from the pic what was going on further inside the concrete. Ground shifting is a likely scenario. I saw that this was one of those lifted buildings built on concrete piers. I am always extra-wary of those. Even a minor twisting force applied to the piers can be very dangerous for buildings built that way. Also, a skewing of the piers out from the center-line due to ground shifts is also dangerous.
  24. So much for nations vaccinating their way out of this. Some of us have been saying the world is going to need to get off the treadmill or it will never end.
  25. I doubt very many people cross party lines at this point. That's a thing of the past, for the moment. Battle lines are drawn. The whole thing is a yawn these days. All fake and controlled. Red vs blue. Both serve corporate masters now.
