  1. That's actually a really nice thing to say, thanks!
  2. That's a ton of people, though.
  3. I can see that, but if someone is on chemo with a compromised immune system and catches pneumonia and dies, is the cause of death marked as "chemotherapy"? Maybe, I actually don't know. What about someone who ate 3 cheeseburgers a day and made themselves more susceptible to heart attacks? When they finally have one is the cause of death "McDonalds"? I think in a couple years there will be some studies that revisit the COVID death tallies and start parsing this out. They already did that in the UK for kids. Turned out very, very few kids died from COVID alone. Almost none. A slightly larger number died "with COVID" but from some other serious illness.
  4. Very fat people are unhealthy, for sure. COVID loves fat people. The vast majority of the time someone told me they knew a person in the hospital with a serious case of COVID, the person was significantly overweight and already had trouble breathing after climbing a small flight of steps or walking around the house. Those folks definitely needed to get vaccinated regardless of age. I would encourage anyone who is significantly overweight to get vaccinated if they haven't already. I definitely would get vaxxed if I was 300+ lbs and diabetic, like many Americans.
  5. Lawyers have no shame in general. I can't stand most of them.
  6. As a morbidly obese person, he probably should have gotten the vaccine. He was probably also at least pre-diabetic given his weight. Edit: looks like he developed bacterial pneumonia in the hospital... but sure let's mark it down as a COVID death.
  7. Definitely a lot of them out there. We have seen some really crazy claims over the years, and our work is all in office-type settings so there isn't the typical "danger" and environmental factors involved like what you have to deal with on top of it. There has been a definite uptick in these wacky claims for us since COVID. I wonder if other businesses are seeing the same? Lot of tweaked people out there who are desperate for some quick cash and have no shame, plus the lawyers are hungry too, I guess. I bet restaurants and places like salons are getting hammered with this shit from employees and customers.
  8. Don’t let me live rent free in your head, man. Be your own person.
  9. They don’t want to win in court. They just want a settlement. A lot easier to get a quick 50-100k. There are a lot of arguments people can make in a legal setting that they are basically overgrown moronic children and that the business owner obviously should have known that and made sure to keep them safe at all times. I have seen it before unfortunately. They would never win in a jury trial, but that's not the intent. Something like 98% of these kinds of cases settle, usual amount is 50k or so (if there is a payout). I have learned a lot about this through painful experience over the past few years.
  10. If only it was that easy. Business owners have enormous liability. I carry many tens of millions of dollars in insurance.
  11. A lot of these minor league guys have killer 80s ‘staches. Definitely a Tom Selleck vibe out there.
  12. Pretty good seats for some minor league action tonight.
  13. Oh man. This sounds like something that would happen to my company. People are dumb and don’t take responsibility for their own actions.
  14. It’s been clear forever that “delta” was the typical respiratory virus variant that was less deadly and more transmissible. That’s evolution at work. Viruses exist to propagate themselves, not kill people. The viruses that propagate the best don’t kill their hosts. The media should be jailed for pushing this as a more deadly variant. It’s criminal.
  15. I’m sure most here can report the same. Boomers were scared shitless of COVID irrespective of political affiliation. Talk to your parents and they will fill you in.
  16. The Boomers who love Trump and watch Fox News are vaccinated. All the ones in my family are, at least.
  17. I just left Florida and the bodies were definitely stacking up. Some had floated past me into the ocean as I sat on the beach too. Keep us posted as this develops.
  18. Some of them definitely have buyer's remorse. They got the vaccination due to peer pressure and fear of restrictions and are pissed off millions of people didn't get the jab and are fine and still able to do whatever they want.
  19. If you believed in science, you wouldn't even be posting about this since you are vaccinated, and I have been told repeatedly that the vaccines are nearly 100% effective at preventing serious infection. You seem really concerned that everyone else get vaccinated to help out your own vaccine, though.
  20. I have no issue with businesses enforcing it either. I have seen very few doing so since it is a terrible business decision, but it's their right to do so.
  21. It's sometimes sad when a cult breaks up. Like seeing your favorite local hangout as a kid get bulldozed and replaced by a mall.
  22. Haven't the last couple times it's been tried to restrict concert attendance to only the vaccinated been total disasters? I have heard of a few examples already, at least. At least one in Europe turned into a super spreader event. LOL
  23. Also, pretty sure life expectancy has been flat and even slightly declining in this country for years due to factors such as increasing obesity and alcoholism. A great headline for clicks, though.
  24. I wonder if anyone in a position to affect the national dialog will have the courage to call out unhealthy lifestyles and personal choices as a key part of this? Easier to simply blame a microscopic virus as the sole factor, I guess.
