The unvaccinated have been living just fine since March 2020. We flew on airplanes, ate out at restaurants, went to work, had fun. It's still very possible to not even realize COVID exists. It barely ever registered up in Coos County, NH, for example.

LOL at how sensitive some of you are about protecting the honor of the vaccines. Sheesh. Pfizer should be paying you guys for this. Vaccines obviously play a large role in jump-starting the immunity process and they protect the vulnerable who can't afford to get sick with the herd.

Yeah, could be. If that's what happens we will just have to deal with it. It will be a huge mess and create massive legal headaches and logjams that will cost the government many billions of dollars. Woo hoo!

Yeah, that's why I said a few days ago it probably won't be helpful in reaching either group to have white 20 somethings going door-to-door lecturing people on why the politicians and media really want them to get the vaccine.

We do have some prime contracts and sub contracts. We will have to see what happens. It will get really messy if they try to force it on all subcontractors, but they have forced many other things over the years (just no medical procedures). I personally don't see them mandating the vaccine for contractors.

It's rather weird. It's how the human species has survived every other disease like this, but now it's almost totally ignored in the public discourse.

Natural immunity better be a thing or we will never escape this. Much of the third world will never be vaccinated and even many Americans who were vaccinated the first time will skip the second time around.

Yes. I am not sure how we will handle it. If it is mandated for us, we will have to comply. I am not going to go out in a blaze of glory over it. I have received no guidance from the government or my prime contractors yet, but it's coming I'm sure. As has been the case all along, 50% of my employees will demand I vax everyone immediately or they will quit, and 50% will demand I ban all vaccines immediately or they will quit.

I feel like the virus will weaken but also bypass the vaccine more easily. It will end up similar to the flu, IMO. 40% effective or so. Lessens the impact of the flu for most. The data from the UK says that already delta was not a major deal. We are overreacting in this country.

It's definitely become a heated issue for some of us in unvaccinated land. I do not believe in microchips or anything like that. But I really don't like the idea that the government will punish me in some way for not complying and the vaxx vs unvaxx stuff is also making it easier to stand firm on this side of the aisle. I don't think that's a good approach for the authorities to be taking. The unvaccinated out there tend to be happiest when they perceive that they are facing down an overreaching government; they are just wired that way. This stuff from the politicians and media plays right into the mythos for many of them. They are a last bastion of free people standing against something on principle. That the vaccinated are possibly losing the few carrots they had (no masks) just reinforces it.

Doesn't look like any governors are moving quickly based on the CDC guidance yet? I'm sure we all remember how fast they moved in May in the other direction. Hopefully this remains a very localized thing that is turned on and off as needed.

Yes, we will get it eventually. We will get the flu vaccine this year like we do every year and our kids receive all of the usual vaccines. I still want to see what is going on with boosters and the variants over this fall. The idea that getting vaxxed means you still have to mask up ad can spread it around to people is not moving the needle for me to get the vaccine sooner than later, though.

I don't think making the vaccinated mask up is going to help the numbers, that is for sure. I can tell you that the arguments from the vaccinated that we unvaccinated are causing all the problems and ruining everything are not compelling or changing any minds. Heels are digging in further. I don't think many unvaccinated people are going to feel responsible if some chickenshit politician locks down the vaxxed again. We are mostly just going to shake our heads and say "told ya' so."

All of those young people spreading it around to each other are gaining natural immunity. Why is this ignored?

It's also still so weird to me that in all of this debate, no one ever talks about natural immunity anymore. It's either vax or no vax. Surely by now many millions of people have natural immunity?

Every Trump person I know over the age of 50 is vaccinated. Trump talks about getting the vaccine all the time. Many minorities aren't getting vaccinated but that is an inconvenient truth many ignore.

Aren't those sterilizing vaccines that are 100% effective? It's not even clear this current generation of vaccines will be 50% effective by the time we get through the initial variant alphabet.

For the a lot of people refusing the vaccine, it has become about making a statement. I would also say there is a lot of simple laziness out there among the youth still. These are the same guys who barely ever vote despite the outcome affecting them greatly. Fact is, this pandemic has always been more about metrics and TV pundits versus real, visceral impact to most people. Many people still do not know anyone who died of COVID or even became very ill, and many of the deaths were very old people in nursing homes. I get the tragedy there, but the average 20 year old is not going to be moved to make a decision about the vaccine based on hearing that 90 year old grandma in hospice passed away due to COVID-induced pneumonia. That the media still has to generate so much fear over this to convince people there is something still scary going on out there remains telling. If people really felt threatened by COVID, they would be scaling the walls to get the vaccine. So, in the absence of a real fear driver for people, politics kind of filled the void.

I know it is not actually 7,000 deaths. But it also isn't 3, as you asserted without even posting a link. I posted more data than you did, but I am the anti-science unvaxxed moron supposedly. Whatever dude. I get there is a ton of anxiety out there. Hope it all works out for you guys. But blame your politicians for mask mandates, not me.

Doesn't seem like it at all, to be honest. If you were following the (new) science, you would be wearing a mask all the time now.

They are already melting down and the delta doesn't even affect them. Wait until a variant that breaks through the vaccine on the regular appears... oh man.
