That's how I feel when I am in Randolph. One of the elderly neighbors was hugging my wife with no mask on last summer. Down in MD they were like 25 feet away minimum, fully-masked, and waving at the same time.

I can’t disagree with any of this. I always feel the worst for the kids in this entire thing. They have had a rough go of it in a lot of ways. We are very fortunate to be able to homeschool. It has made a world of difference in eliminating one major source of stress and risk for us. I really hope this school year somehow works out for the kids.

I pulled my 4 children out of school and keep them at home. With all due respect, that's a pretty big contribution to "public health measures" given all the hype around children being vectors in the schools. I'm guessing very few others here are even wearing masks despite the CDC saying they need to do so in many areas.

Not really clear what you are arguing? I got it, the vaccine still works. You guys keep telling me that. I haven't ever doubted it is still working well at preventing death and serious illness. It's not as clear to me it is doing so hot at preventing that many cases since in this country we don't even track mild or moderate breakthrough cases, but we don't have good data so who knows. You can believe the media story that 99.99% of cases are the unvaccinated or whatever, that's fine. A cluster of a little over a hundred breakthrough cases in MA was enough for the CDC to issue new guidance that has had major ripple effects across the country. It isn't taking much to move governments to implement new restrictions. A couple hundred breakthrough cases after the third booster seems like something that would cause a CDC overreaction...

Things are going to get really hairy in this country in a couple months when the bulk of the late winter/early spring vax crowd starts to face waning immunity and has to go get boosters. There will be some headlines about a lot of breakthroughs and hospitalizations in the vaccinated. It'll be a tiny percentage but still turn heads because fear sells. We haven't really been mentally preparing people for the reality that this will happen in this country. My main interest is to see if the government overreacts.

It is indeed a very small number so far. Some of you seem to think my posts are intended to question the effectiveness of the vaccines at preventing serious disease and death, and that causes some angst and defensiveness. Vaccines are very serious business here. That's not my intent at all. I am not trying to create doubt about the vaccine (the vaccinated are doing enough of that to themselves). I am simply commenting on the "casedemic" and the government reaction to it. This early data is just another log on the fire that boosting everyone forever is still probably not going to stop these clusters of cases that can cause government overreactions and restrictions. Other metrics are needed. Or the Pfizer vaccine is really on the ropes and we just haven't come to terms with that here yet.

Do you have a source for hospitalization and death data by vaccination status in this country? Israel seems to be a lot more open with this than we are... I agree that they are about 2 months "ahead" of us with this. I expect October and November to get pretty hysterical in this country as vaccinated people start showing up more strongly in the severe outcome statistics, even if we try to whitewash it like we are now.

I posted that a few months ago, seems like each year in MD we have either house centipedes or wolf spiders, never both at the same time. It goes back and forth each year. They are mortal blood enemies from what I understand. No overlap between their territories inside the walls. A 300 million year old struggle I guess, from back when they were each 5 feet long. LOL

Yikes, hate when that happens. Been pretty good up north so far, not many spiders. More ticks than I have ever seen though.

There are plenty of unvaccinated people in Israel, but they are mostly young. The situation with the breakthrough cases is far worse than is being tracked or admitted in this country.

I think that is just eligible adults. It's like 60% of the total population, I think.

Whole lot of fear out there. A bunch of people only got vaccinated because the man on TV told them to. They don't know anyone who actually got sick from COVID. They are desperate for someone to tell them the vaccine still works and they won't die, since the man on TV told them delta is deadly and killing even vaccinated people.
