  1. I was really surprised by how quickly the holes I dug filled up. Swamp-like. Lot of water in New England this summer.
  2. Things just get destroyed outdoors here over the course of a year. My house is just constantly being taken apart by Mother Nature.
  3. Glad I got rid of the pool. Definitely would have come up in the fall to a dead moose floating in there.
  4. Had to dig some holes today for posts and they all filled with water immediately. Tons of groundwater here right now. No drought in Randolph.
  5. The plow guy has been very fair but others are clearly farming me for bucks. There is an acute shortage of certain tradesmen up here so I am willing to pay a little extra for them to actually show up and do the work.
  6. Definitely some gorgeous colors out there. I feel like we are just a couple days out from best colors now. The bright oranges are coming in but the trees are still partially green in some of those cases. Sometimes half the leaf is neon orange the other half green. That’s neat in its own way.
  7. I have a lot of aspen and birch on the edges of my field that stay green until after peak. They hide a lot of the colorful stuff from certain angles. I will have the wife take a shot with her good camera later to really capture the colors better. I will say that the colors are a little muted so far compared to last season (my only point of reference). We will see what happens this week. I was a little worried about a situation where the colors are delayed enough that there is a lot of leaf drop before they can really get to those deep reds and oranges. Still a few days from peak here, IMO. It is amazing the difference down the road in North Conway still.
  8. Definitely. It also helps that my politics align. I don’t go run for town council or the school board and try to turn Gorham into a suburb of NYC. I leave everyone alone.
  9. Yeah, no one cares if you are a transplant to central MD. LOL It seems to be a much bigger deal up here.
  10. One thing I always notice when I watch TV up here in Randolph is how many companies and politicians making commercials directed at Maine residents try very hard to hype up the fact that they are "authentic Mainers" or "from Maine." Just something that you don't see much in MD. It seems to be a big deal when trying to reach customers/voters in Maine to ensure they know you are a local and not some out of towner. I am really enjoying the CMP corridor commercials pointing out that the power is "for Massachusetts." LOL dripping with sarcasm.
  11. Still very green in North Conway. Last season they were slightly behind me but this season they are way behind.
  12. Seeing drier air working in to the north finally. Should sink though here over the coming hours. Hope we get a repeat of this past week in February at 20 degrees.
  13. Yeah, pretty sure peak leaf color on the flanks of the Whites is already happening inside the cloud deck. Hope this shit clears out for tomorrow so we can get some pics.
  14. Another day with upper 40s and light rain/mist. Get this shit out of here already.
  15. 47 with light rain and thick fog. Feels like Christmas in New England out there.
  16. Just a little longer for peak, IMO. It changing very rapidly now though.
  17. This is a rough time to be alive if you hate Tom Brady.
  18. 48 with mist. Drove down to southern NH and the sun is out at 70 degrees with green leaves. No wonder you guys are canceling fall down here. LOL
  19. It’s been cloudy and basically misting for days now. Temp stuck at 48 for days too.
  20. In fairness to you, Conway has basically no change yet. It looks like MD still. I can't stand it there. Always like 10 degrees warmer than my house and bumper-to-bumper traffic. The leaves start to rapidly change as you head up 16 towards Wildcat.
  21. One would think, but one of the forum experts thinks otherwise and I trust him.
  22. Some leaf change from the Kanc today but it must have been a mirage. I am locked in for leaf change in early November in NNE.
