  1. If memory serves, he will start Eeyore-ing about a change to rain in most events.
  2. And I can be down in North Conway in like 45 minutes, and that place is clearly exciting enough for the Mass crowd year round based on all the license plates. LOL
  3. Mother Nature's playground is only boring if you don't engage in any outdoors activities. Stuffing hotdogs down my gullet all day in the Bronx as sirens blare is not my idea of fun either. All depends on what you like!
  4. I can't comment on Mass, but my spot actually has more stores and restaurants within close distance than my MD house, which is in a complete cultural wasteland. Nothing but fast food and chains with zero soul. My wife was very pleasantly surprised to learn that. If I was up in Colebrook or someplace like that I could definitely see getting some cabin fever. It's a really depressed area up there.
  5. Once it hits November, cold matters up here for the snowmaking. I get that down in SNE you guys are still tending vegetable gardens and touring breweries. That’s fine. My neighbor in MD still has their pool open. LOL
  6. It's like I don't even recognize you guys anymore. I am pretty sure this is like 90% a coping mechanism, though. LOL
  7. 50 degrees and rainy here today. Pants and rain coats both on.
  8. It’s not always about moving either. If you want to take a trip to see some amazing weather event, it’s worth trying to make it happen.
  9. Gotta try to seize those weather moments if you can. I decided I was just tired of being a snow lover in a place where it doesn't reliably snow. It was torture.
  10. Mild'ish is fine. It wasn't that cold last year either. My issue was that it barely precipitated up here in Feb and March.
  11. These very steady-state temps and continuous precipitation chances are fine for here as long as my temps are running in the mid-20s for the most part. That's an ideal winter.
  12. It's clearly mostly solar driven. The small plants here are simply done even though there hasn't even really been a frost yet. The sun is weak right now and goes behind the ridges early, and the plants are shutting down. The bugs are acting really weird. They are supposed to be dead by now. Probably like a human living to 175 years old, just start going loopy and begging for death. LOL
  13. I saw someone cruising over Gorham in one of these a couple weeks ago:
  14. Temp back up to 60 here, so whatever this "cool shot" was it's now gone. Endless September.
  15. When they bring you on a bus out to the tarmac to load on the plane via a staircase, you know you are in for a bumpy ride.
  16. No way he fits in the glades. I feel like I don't even fit and I am 5'10". I always assumed @alex and @J.Spin were under 5' 5". My 7 year old fits way better in the trees than I do.
  17. I have become so spoiled the last two falls in NNE. I can't appreciate the colors anywhere else basically. The colors down here in MD don't even register as existing any more. Brown and dead.
  18. They are called Boeing 717s now. Same basic plane, it's a continuation of the MD-80 lineage. You don't see them much anymore except on short regional business flights sometimes.
  19. MD-80s and MD-90s are not my favorite planes to fly on. They creep me out for some reason. I am sure they are technically just as safe as any other plane. I try to avoid them.
  20. LOL that’s part dedicated and part desperate.
  21. Yea, and you can get bootleg min/max readings that the PWS hits for like 5 minutes too. If my PWS spits out 36 for a couple mins and then bounces back to 38 it’s hard to say there was any discrepancy there. Just a passing pocket of cold air or something. LOL I see this all the time here in the winter where the high was 35 but it was 30 the entire time except for a brief spike at 2 PM. Not exactly a big melt day.
  22. That Broadacres Farm building is down the hill right on rt 2 towards the lower town. It's definitely not higher than me. Not sure why they are reporting that elevation unless they have their PWS a couple miles away up this way? They tend to run pretty close to the Appalachia station which should be at the trailhead across rt2 for the Presidentials (to the left of this picture). The CoCoRaHS guy does his measurements in the woods which causes issues and inflates his snow depth late in the season, IMO.
