I’m a little surprised to not see any flood watches up this morning from MRX. Maybe they are waiting until after the first impulse moves through.

WPC 7 day rainfall forecast (live image link subject to change): That's a large area of 7"+ and a huge area of 5"+.

Man I wish we had totals like that down here. Only 0.60 so far. We have only had one heavy rain event (>2") since July. Helene.

Lots of freezing fog and slick roads this morning. We busted about 7 degrees low on temps last night.

Big ouch for northern LA and central MS.
-
Still snowing there too. They may have another hour or two of good rates.

Yeah we just had an absolutely incredible sunset here. One I will remember for a long time.

Probably most of the remaining southeastern US. They are getting hammered. I'm thrilled for them. That's awesome

I think we are going to see both the New Orleans all time snowfall record and the state of Florida all time snowfall record fall. Pretty incredible event.

The only snow left around here is parking lot piles and some snowman corpses.

I would be a lot more bitter about this if we had missed last week. And I'm not actually ready to throw in the towel yet. There is still a good chance the northern precip shield is undermodeled.

That actually makes sense to me. The amplitude between warm moist airmasses and cold dry ones is at its peak in the shoulder seasons.

Shockingly enough I think basically the whole Chattanooga metro got 5". Even the airport. I guess what they say about blind squirrels is true.

Just did a 10 mile run. First run in the snow in YEARS for me. Started out as tiny flurries, but by the time I finished the sidewalks were getting slick and everything was white. I'm at work now, but when I left the house it was snowing moderately at 25 degrees. Cranking right now at my office off VW drive. We will see if it stays.

I’m bouncing between 24-26. DP is 17.

And now the NAM is looking a LITTLE better than before. Go figure. The margin is razor thin though. Once you go a single row of counties down into GA it's an ice storm.

The FV3 looks like it will continue to be good along the southern border areas.

HRRR appears to get us above freezing at the surface and the southern valley below about Athens gets a nice cold rain after some snow/sleet on the front end.
