The storm is behaving well as far as rhode island is concerned. I wouldn't call 6 inches in newport a bust- 2-3 more inches and they are in the forecasted range.
Even though the storm may move out faster, you still have tons of time for more heavy bands to develop, I'd be shocked if you didn't get more than a foot if you have 9 inches already. The storm is still well to the south.
I never though it was likely to see the huge totals far north and west............remember days ago it was a complete miss to the south. The compromise solution is what we are seeing now.
