  1. Wind started to rip in Southern RI. Home weather station just gusted to 38 mph which is the highest it has registered this year. Slightly sheltered in our neighborhood, but some good gusts. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  2. New England representing in the 2020 SAIDI data. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. Block island buoy had a 16 ft swell on it from the north when I checked, 2hich you don't see too often. I also saw pictures of surfable waves on north facing land in Narragansett bay. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  4. My weather station picked up 6.8 inches in Narragansett. 5.6 of it after midnight. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  5. Might just be Pour Judgement Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  6. Radar looks like the typical narrgansett bay snow hole dynamic? Or will that fill in before the dryslot hits? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  7. Looks to be a relatively new tower down... Can't vouch for the source, but... Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  8. 480? Distribution is usually 12.47, 25, etc kV, so MV; 480 is LV. Transmisison usually much higher, > 100 kV. Either way, reality, is underground and ring/euro RMU style distribution is much more reliable, but brownfield is 7 figures per mile. Either way, if your transmission towers fall into the Mississippi not much you can do. Microgrids could get power to back to some sooner, but tough and general favor the ones with the means. 9. Blackstart is also a pain in the ass. Not sure what generation is local or on this side of the transmissions outages, but could be a while till back up. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  10. The tweet said they lost 12 MW of grid power but have 15 MW of on-site generation (turbine 6), should be nat gas turbine. Based on that wording they should have full capacity, but certainly on more of a knife edge. Could also be a lot more going on as that is Turbine 6? I am sure they have very regular maintance and test runs, but if gas turbines they are dependant on gas distribution. Gas distribution is generally hardier but can fail with loss of power if compressor stations don't have backup, as we saw in Texas this winter. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  12. She ain't got no alibi. Last few sattelite frames have been impressive. Good luck gulf... not exactly Henri. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  13. Max heights, not significant wave height. Impressive no doubt though!! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah set up for pockets of maximum damage. Additionally no one videos the areas which don't have damage, which slant sticks the perception some. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  15. I get what you are saying, but seems worse than a moderate noreaster. I know quite a few people with full oaks down. Damage definitely falls off very quick away from the water on both sides of the bay though. https://instagram.com/stories/thekingslens/2646040594301596826?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&utm_medium=share_sheet Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  18. Strengthening has been indefinitely 24 hours away for the past 4 days Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  19. I live in Narragansett and lost power 4 times this summer and about 7 times this year so far. US grid average is ~1.3 a year. Kinda pathetic. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  20. Was hoping to sneak in and get a surf in before dark, but might have to push back to Monday. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  21. Flight arriving at 4 pm into pvd on Sunday, seems like a 50-50 chance? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  22. Very well said. I guess I am also struggling with what OPs point is. His copy pastes seem to highlight the culture war and terminology aspects of the book and opinion pieces, but beyond that what is he saying? Do you not think AGW is real? If so, why not? What other mechanism describe the increases? Does that theory hold up to review and scrutiny? Do you expect research to continue in that area? What criticism of that theory would make you chnage your mind? There are many facets of climate change discussion which are ongoing and will continue to be ongoing as we live through it, more data results, and research continues. "Settled" is then a vary vague and imprecise term without more detail and context... For OPs benefit, climate science is very active with research into the impact of past, present, and future human behavior on climate change and various climate, biological, and social systems. The area is not "at rest" or "settled" with ongoing research and input subject to the scientific process and peer review of its merits. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  23. Found this snow depth visualization of Steins run from the groomer pretty cool. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  24. Sounded like a freightliner just came through, shook the house and trashcans all knocked over. Impressively abrupt here. Weather station has only been up since xmas, but just hit its max gust of 32. Nothing crazy but decent considering it is pretty sheltered from the north by the house and reads low as a result. 25. 2-3 (eyeballed) of fluff in Narragansett, RI. Coming down nice and dead clam out. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
