Seems like we have had a lot of high winds over the past year. Today is no exception. I am constantly picking up branches and limbs. Hopefully Saturday is winters last gasp.
It warmed up nicely outside. Glad the rain stopped... my yard is soaked. If this weather continues we will definitely be cutting soon. My grass really didn't go dormant this winter so it is looking really nice right now.
Its great out there today. Sunny and close to 70. Looking forward to the nice weather. I'm sure we will get a few transient cold shots but hopefully the door is closed on this winter.
Fair point. We've been nickled (and missed) all winter long with synoptic snows. Maybe its just me but I can't get enthusiastic about 1-2" of fluff that melts as soon as the sun pops out. Bad analogy... but its kind of like opening a beer and it evaporates before you have a chance to drink it.
I wasn't optimistic that we would hit 60" out this way but we did. Pure fluff today. Next week looks great on the models... full Spring mode. The next snow threat appears to be passing well south of the area. Not surprsising the way this winter has gone.
Well, the euro throws us a bone with an early March paste storm next week. Hopefully we can put this winter to bed after that. Gonna soak up the sun and 50's today.
Yeah, more snow that I expected. It really ripped late afternoon so we made up a lot of ground quickly. I measured various amounts... all between 3-6". There was probably half that amount on the pavement.
It has been snowing steadily in Chagrin. Not amounting to much through. Going to be tough to get 3-6" at this point. Hopefully the radar picks up out east this afternoon.
Didn't realize the temp gradient across the area... right at 50 here in Chagrin. Just checked and BKL is at 36. I guess with winds out of the NE that makes sense. I bet the lakeshore areas do pretty well with the fast turnover once the storm passes. It will be a slushfest tomorrow.
If there were colder temps behind the storm it would be an ideal set up. Lakeshore areas will probably flip well before inland areas with lake temps hovering around freezing. There is going to be a sharp gradient with the snow... Check out the counties SE Michigan. From 3" to 10"+ In just a few miles.
Maybe its just the time of the year but I don't have that much interest in the storm. My guess is the storm moves right over CLE. Even if it took a more easterly track temps are marginal at best. Should be a decent lake enhancement set-up though as you mentioned.
Looks like we will break out into full sun this afternoon. As long at the DP's remain low we may salvage some snow. The strong winds and sun will do their dirty work though.
Yeah, it will be a bummer to lose the snowpack. What's crazy is that the ground isn't even frozen beneath the snow. All eyes on next weeks potential storm.
Definitely a shame that this storm didn't produce more snow. Not often we get a track like that. This snow seems so much more substantial... its a winter wonderland scene out there.
Yeah, the further east you go the better... but with the low pushing into WV I'd imagine there may be precip issues. Too bad the precip shield isn't more expansive.
Its going to be a close call that's for sure. Any idea what precip looked on the euro last night? Hard to believe we can't get a decent snowfall with that type of storm track. If only that kicker wasn't there.
