  1. Considering the lack of synoptic snow we've had a good run since 1/1. Didn't pick up much additional yesterday - 1/2 inch or so. Hopefully the Central basin can hold off on freezing for a few more days... need the wind and waves to stay up otherwise a calm cold night will rapidly increase ice.
  2. I'm sure there will still be open water in the central basin which will help. Picked up another 1" last night.
  3. Lots of ice on the western basin already. Probably closed for business soon. This is a cam from middle bass island looking west-- once this area is ice covered the remainder of the western basin is as well - http://64.246.98.57/CgiStart?page=Single&Language=0'
  4. Picked up another 1"+ last night/this morning. Snow growth must be poor as it is mainly snow pellets.
  5. Heavier snow than I expected this morning. Large cotton ball flakes are stacking up.
  6. Storm total of 12.8” here. Was lucky to get under some of the better banding late yesterday afternoon. It was pure fluff. Still some snow falling this morning.
  7. Same amount overnight as well - 10.5 total. Its a perfect wind direction to maximize the fetch from the western basin. Surprised there hasn't been a primary band on the eastside.
  8. Nice. Its always good to get off to a fast start. We'll see what the rest of the day/nights brings.
  9. Picked up 4.4" of snow already. It was just dumping earlier. Snow starting to pick back up... and the heavy snow over the lake looks to push south directly into the area circled by OHWeather.
  10. Whiteout conditions right now with the heavy squalls. Nice way to start the event.
  11. That will be moving inland once the shortwave passes and winds shift to the WNW. Winds are still SW'erly at this point. Check out the shortwave over central MI - https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/?parms=subregional-MI-13-24-0-100-1&checked=map&colorbar=data That should provide additional lift and increased snowfall.
  12. CLE's latest snowfall map thru Sunday...
  13. Hopefully round 2 of LES works out better tomorrow into the weekend. Didn't pick up much additional snow last night.
  14. Went out and measured… 2.1” on elevated surfaces and only an inch on the ground. The ground is warm and wet from the recent rains.
  15. Happy New Year! Woke up to just under an inch of paste. Nice way to kick of the year with the wet snow sticking to everything.
  16. Great AFD from OHWeather this morning. ...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM WEDNESDAY TO 7 PM EST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 14 inches, especially in the northern two-thirds of Geauga County. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.* WHERE...Geauga County.
  17. Looking forward to getting back to Winter after yesterday's rain and wind event. Winds were ripping last night. Hopefully we can cash in on the lake effect this week. The wind direction looks pretty good for the primary snowbelt at this point. The lake will likely build ice rapidly over the next week so this may be our last shot for a significant event prior to ice cover.
  18. Just over 6" for the weekend event. Very fluffy LES which has quickly settled. Nice to have snow on the ground for a few days.
  19. 4.6" so far. The Huron band has been mostly just east of here. There will likely be a narrow corridor of 8+ totals in central Geauga.
  20. At least we'll have a few wintry days prior to the warm up next week. Some locations may be able to pull off a white Christmas but it will be melting.
  21. Wow. There were some very localized jackpot zones with the squalls.
  22. Picked up close to 2" from the squalls last night. There were just some remaining snow piles around so good have the ground white again. Seems like we can't get a break from the WSW flow LES events. PA/WNY have cleaned up the past couple of years. Might actually start to see some ice form on the western basin soon with temps dropping into the teens. So much for the record breaking lake temps... we've lost a lot that quickly.
  23. 11.5" total IMBY. Great event and fairly high impact with the strong winds.
  24. Snowing quite hard again after the morning lull. Roads are back to being covered. Radar is looking great.
  25. Legit blizzard conditions out there this morning. Hard to measure with the winds but 5 - 6" has fallen already... most of which fell between 4am and 8am. Roads are absolutely terrible.
