  1. Color is strong now just inland from the Connecticut shoreline. I've seen some pretty strong color on route 15 near the Wilbur Cross and the Merritt.
  2. Things are starting to fade here in northern Connecticut after a fairly colorful past 10 days. It was a rather long and drawn-out foliage season that lacked cohesiveness at times but there was some times of pretty nice color. Clean up will start this weekend
  3. Flips Hubby Dave to paste as the end, lol
  4. Got to be about 2"here. Just a soaking of a day.
  5. Apple picking today in Ellington , CT Color popping quickly and heading towards peak.
  6. Still pretty garbage here and today's high winds not helping things.
  7. Foliage was pretty garbage on my ride down to sw ct today. Brown and green were the primary colors. Definitely waiting for the 2nd wave of color after a nice burst about a week ago.
  8. Color is moderate here. Not very uniform change. Early turning maple trees and swampy areas are going a bit past with the but still a decent amount of turning or green foliage as well depending on the species and location.
  9. Wet morning here just east of the river, steady rain.
  10. Still plenty of leaves left here as we avoided the heaviest rain and worst winds. I'm thinking Columbus day October 10-12 may end up being peak this year around here whereas in a normal year we are more like October 18- 20. I feel as though the warm-up may have helped to decelerate the process a bit here, after color started to pop rapidly when we had our first frost and freeze.
  11. About what I expected, best rain west and best wind east. Looks like the closest PWS a couple of streets over from me is reporting about .95
  12. About .8 in the rain department. Nice to see but it was a bit of an underperformer.
  13. Yeah we nice and smooth soil here in the ctrv. My uncle from Gardner Mass when he came down to visit me last year hadn't been to the valley where I live in over 15 years and forgotten how much flat and fertile farmland was in this area. I probably have to travel about 10 miles east or west to start hitting the stone walls.
  14. Two temperature readings below freezing here before the autumnal equinox. 31.3 yesterday and 30.1 today. Seems fairly impressive for CT.
  15. Is Sunday looking wet or dry? Point and click said mostly sunny this morning and the Euro looks like a washout. What gives? Trying to plan my son's birthday party.
  16. Down to 43.5. 2.3 degrees ahead of last night at this time which got us down to 34.
  17. 34 for the low. Light frost on car and rooftop.
  18. Off to bed at 39.6. We'll see what the morning brings.
