NNE was a different story in the 80’s. SNE was the tough spot most times. Tons of mixed events…it was very hard(but obviously not impossible) to get a pure snow storm then in SNE. Was just the pattern/cycle back then.

I’m talking CT here…not south coast/or eastern mass. The decade as I said had a few big events scattered around. But overall it was a very low snow decade to be sure.

Yup…I was a sophomore..so we are only a year apart. Good times though…just very stingy snow lol. When you live through a decade like that….it allows you to appreciate the good times, and not take them for granted. It puts things into a good perspective.

They were cold…I was a teenager during the 80’s…And while they were consistently cold, the snow sucked 85-90% of the time. There were a few big ones scattered in there, but it was underwhelming most of the time. Mixing was very common. It was like pulling teeth to get a pure snow event during that decade. 1-3” and 2-4” were very common. 3-6” was a good storm. And the beloved 4-8” was a biggy. of course there was the April Blizzard of 82 which was a monster, and Feb of 83 was big. And 1984 was a decent snow winter. Mid March of 84 had a good 8-10” storm. And then a couple weeks later in late March of 84 there was a pretty big late season snow storm around the 30-31st, which was pretty dam good for that decade. And as Will said…they were consistently BN. So it just goes to show how this winter has been dam cold.

And also due to the strength of it too(more dynamical of a system). But still super low chences.

I couldn’t agree More. And let’s throw all our chips on the table and gamble with riding the line. If it fails…so be it, and let’s get spring in here by late March(although that’s probably a pipe dream lol). But you know what I mean.

It’s all good. Just remember too, that most of us are hobbyists, and are not pros. We do things that are gonna probably annoy folks like you and Will at times…I think we all get that. And I think I speak for a lot of guys in here(along with myself), when I say that we’ve learned a ton from professionals such as yourself, Will, FXWX, and Ray, and Steve too, that we can’t put a price on. Sometimes we get excited, and may post or say things that may be laughable…but it’s mostly only because of enthusiasm. Anyway, I agree with what you laid out a few posts back about the long wave pattern that may be coming later in the month, and early March. Thanks for the explanation and insight too.

Fair enough. Thanks for the insight. I m sure we play with fire, but it’s worth it now as we head towards the last quarter of the season.

But you let emotion cloud your judgement too much lately. It’s blatantly obvious. I wasn’t big on the storm Monday either…I doubted it. And agreed with your idea of it wasn’t a good set up. But please Take this constructively….you’re a smart MET. You know your stuff. Folks look to you for some insight. But lately, when a potential misses…you start with the nonsense of ending things. And it’s constant. Whether you’re doing that to get folks upset, or it’s your COPING Mechanism, the signs are blatantly obvious. Kevin said the same thing to you a couple mornings ago. And I actually stayed out of it. But he was right. I know you feel like what can a non MET show me….but believe me it’s clear. So just take that as something constructive. And before you say you’re just keeping it real…it’s beyond that now. I appreciate real, I think most of us do. But it’s abundantly clear that your frustration gets the best of you a lot lately. Not trying to be a jerk, BUT just keeping it “Real” as you like to say, on how it looks from the outside looking in. Stop being the angry frustrated Scott, and go back to the one we used to know.

Don’t even engage anymore. He uses his frustration to dig and be a jerk. Guys been a crank all season. Too much emotion and frustration. And can’t take any constructive criticism at all. He’s always right. Always.

You say silly things lately…whether out of frustration, or to dig folks. It’s not a good thing. Two other posters had to clarify your post..Fozz and United…because it had a tone…as usual. That’s the point.

For sure. He gets frustrated and wants to end everything. Anybody with any sense knows that there will be chances when you’re on 2/12. Silly statement for a meteorologist because a potential fails.

Lol…like I said, I don’t get that mentality? Inflated expectations? Not knowing one’s climo? Forgetting where they live…Etc..Etc. Just Baffling to me.

Those two storms in Feb and March in the 2016-2017 winter, remind me of the same storm…they were quite similar in their amounts and I think of them as very much twins for some reason.
