  1. Pretty run of the mill tonight. I never got the sense that this storm looked all that threatening on model runs.
  2. Moist and mild outside, almost feels like when you step off the plane in Florida. It's the middle of the night in January.
  3. Like I was saying... Preliminary Local Storm Report National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ 1058 PM EST Tue Jan 9 2024 ..TIME... ...EVENT... ...CITY LOCATION... ...LAT.LON... ..DATE... ....MAG.... ..COUNTY LOCATION..ST.. ...SOURCE.... ..REMARKS.. 1055 PM Coastal Flood Bristol 40.10N 74.86W 01/09/2024 Bucks PA Trained Spotter The Delaware River is rapidly flooding into parking lots and streets along the riverfront in Bristol.
  4. Agreed, seeing it now. I didn't think winds were too impressive in the line either, although the rain was quite heavy.
  5. Really ramping up now, those winds aloft are no joke. I'm very interested to see what kind of surge this storm generates with the strong southerly flow up the Delaware.
  6. No winter weather with round 2, but it still might steal the show. It's got some bark on recent runs.
  7. 50F, rain picking up. Always the piedmont regions in PA and northern NJ that take the firehose head on, while us coastal plain folks get the scraps.
  8. Was not expecting a tremendous hit, but at least thought this storm would have more bite to it. It's been pretty low energy thus far.
  9. Finally getting mine after watching storms pivot me around me all day. Torrential downpour here. Hailing in neighboring town.
  10. Color me impressed with how dark it just got ahead of the main line. Street and patio lights all popped on. Looked like a thunderstorm in civil twilight and it was lunchtime.
  11. Peaking now at my place, wind and heavy rain. Thank goodness this is all contained to a Sunday night.
  12. It’s been hella dark for even ordinary rain storms lately, so not surprised
  13. I think this is the only community I know of where the warm season is so widely disliked. You guys are crazy lol.
  14. I've been noticing a trend in southern NJ going back to January with a few pieces to it: 1) there is a persistent haze that rests over the horizon on sunny days, (2) light pollution turns the night sky a nautical almost twilight-esque blue color during clear conditions regardless of moon phase, and (3) the sky blackens like a summer thunderstorm on pretty much every afternoon that it rains. Is this the work of a temperature inversion? Dust in the atmosphere? Something else? I was wondering if anyone on the NY forum had noticed these phenomena. I've brought it to the attention of other folks with a mixed response, and I'd like to nail down the culprit.
  15. Been hazy for a while, but today might be the biggest aggressor so far. What’s with the eternal inversion lately?
  16. Spent the weekend in Quebec, thought you guys might enjoy a refresher of what winter looks like:
  17. Yeah so, am I truly the only one noticing/weirded out by this persistent sky glow/inversion/trapped light pollution pattern of recent weeks? Can anyone else back me up here? I keep consulting people in knowledgeable circles and people just ask me to get my health checked out. I’m not crazy and I do think I’m noticing an anomaly. In fact I think it had a big role in amplifying our fog today.
  18. No bolts but several loud bangs with mixed hail* and rain at my house. Great stuff 0.72” in the gauge this morning.
