  1. Just so people know. The dTap vaccine are for bacteria. Tetanus, pertussis, and diphtheria are caused by toxins from bacteria. Bacteria are easy to vaccinate against. They don't really mutate. Measles virus is pretty stable, but it’s still “only” 90% effective. Rubella is around 90%, mumps 75%, polio is around 90%. But they are that high because there’s not much of that virus that circulates because kids were vaccinated against those since the 50’s and 60’s. If COVID virus circulated at those levels, there would be very little break through infection. Covid vaccines stop infection too. Breakthrough infections are minuscule compared to the total number of people vaxed.
  2. Deaths have been going down steadily. The cases bottomed out 6 weeks ago and rose ever since. But deaths have steadily declined over the same period. There’s been no increase at all. Right now it’s averaging 275. If that didn’t go up significantly in the next couple weeks, the cases have uncoupled. Another anecdote at least locally, my buddy at mass general told me that a lot of patients in the hospital right now, at least at MG, probably wouldnt even been admitted last January or at the peak in April 2020. They’re not as sick. Delta will end up like a bad cold for most. This uncoupling is why they need to stop worrying about cases. If they don’t, they’ll chase cases until Jesus returns.
  3. I dunno. Maybe, maybe not. I’ll be honest, I’m a trump voter twice over and would do it again. His tweets didn’t hurt my feelings. Not all trump voters are anti vax. Hell he touts he invented it ( kinda like gore invented the internet). You’d think every trump voter would stand in line all night to get it.
  4. Lava’s phone dug up from the bottom of the ocean.
  5. But how many will vax their kids? I was a little hesitant with mine but I went ahead and did it. They both wanted it and I did a lot of research and decided it was ok. They both did fine, no issues.
  6. That’s why the vax is important, keeps the viral load to a minimum even if there happens to be a replicating and shedding infection. That’s why even a 60-70% effective vax works. Keeps the viral load down.
  7. I had read it was 100 million adults that are eligible. But it pretty clear that we need about 70% uptake
  8. We’ll, I’m not woke but def educated. You know I don’t think masks do anything except under a few specific settings like long term hours on an assembly line or the like. But let’s stipulate for just a milli second I agree they do. People in New England and highly vaxed states don’t need too. It’s the low vax states that could benefit (again, just playing the other side of the fence for a second) but they’ll never do it, so what’s the use. (Now back to my anti mask self ) People listen to those idiots like Wakefield and Del Big Tree, and won’t get vaxed with anything.
  9. I’m torn on employer mandates. I hate hate hate government interference in people lives. I’m basically a libertarian. But schools mandate vaccines. Hospitals mandate flu shots or you wear a mask. The amount of circulating virus needs to go down. Yea, this will always be here. Measles and mumps are out there. But they don’t circulate much because the population is vaxed. I’m honesty torn. But I had no idea there would be 100 million not get vaxed. Sure there’s always the anti vaxers, but I really thought the uptake would be better.
  10. Good gusts came through here. Went to get my son at football practice in Upton and the wind from the leading edge was nasty.
  11. Check the joint between the tub and the floor. If she got out and dripped water there, it can leak pretty good even with a little water. I had a leak there and was surprised how much water got on my downstairs ceiling.
  12. Yes. Just like mumps, measles, etc etc.
  13. Why ask me? I don’t think it does
  14. I’m not going around and around with you and play your little games. Like I’ve said a million times, vaxed people, even if they get exposed, the viral load is low enough that even if they get the sniffles, they’re most likely not gonna spread it like Chernobyl. Im tired of going around with you. Sometimes you make really good points and other times you dumb as a brick bat. But I suspect 90% of what you do is troll.
  15. As Ive said before, the mumps vax is around 70-75% effective. There’s little breakthrough infection because there’s not much virus circulating. Covid vaccines are effective, but there’s still a ton of virus out there. Mumps doesn’t circulate much because most are vaccinated. Measles circulate too. Once vax rates go down in spots, you get an outbreak, even in some vaxed people. Contrary to the opinion of some here, I think masks are mostly useless except in certain narrow settings. But the more people are vaxed, the less it’ll circulate. Not hard to understand.
  16. Mandate for who? The feds can’t mandate much. Military maybe. Federal hospital employees?
  17. Ding ding ding, we have a winner.
  18. Actually found something we may agree on somewhat.
  19. If that’s what you want to believe, more power to you. Comparison of case numbers and increase to countries who are more masked and lockdown than we are say otherwise.
  20. Debatable. Countries that have good to great mask and "mitigation" compliance see the same kind of spikes. If masking shows a 1.5% decrease in cases, which their own CDC publication says (within the margin of error by the way) is it worth the consternation it causes? If so, people who want that 1.5% change must be for 25 mile per hour speed limits because we know speed kills.
  21. Damn right! I almost quit on them last night
  22. Capacity restrictions wont come back. Politicians have no appetite for tat. Mask mandates are easy and it something they can do that's visible.
