  1. Agreed - 1/3rd of the winters since 2000 out here (using BNL data) have seen more snow in March than February. I'd prefer it in January when its more likely to stick around but March can still be productive for seasonal totals.
  2. Its been frustrating. At least there has been snow nearby. My place in the southern adirondacks is up to 100" and there is much more northwest and northeast of there. I know some people are sick of the cold/wind but we've had too many winters with seemingly endless 50 degree stretches - I'd take this year over any of those.
  3. Despite the snowfall frustrations here on the coast, at least this winter showed we can still get three consecutive below normal (with all caveats) winter months. I would have bet aginst that prior to this winter for sure.
  4. Traveling for work to Pontiac, MI - can't even luck into snow here -- looks the same as Long Island
  5. Hope that doesnt greenlight another dumping of road salt
  6. It’s absurd. Someone that works at my town’s Highway department was recently telling me about the large number of calls they get requesting road treatment in advance of every forecasted snowfall. They are in a no-win situation.
  7. You're doing really well --- only about 1/2" here to your east. Havent had the grass fully covered yet this year - if we get there by the time this ends I'll take it as a win!
  8. Challenging, when we can't even get our own on board.
  9. 45f driving along the LIE in Suffolk. Wasn’t expecting that.
  10. Nice coating in Hauppauge with light snow continuing, hopefully a little appetizer for weekend.
  11. We're finishing the year with 9 or 10 months above the already adjusted for warming rolling average - until/unless that changes it makes sense to lean warm.
  12. Nice presentation of the data, thanks for posting. Can't really ask for more than an extended favorable period. Hopefully we cash in.
  13. Upton's AFD at least left the door slightly open for the MJO812 possibility The precipitation could have some banding to the north and west of the low center. This would be heavier precipitation for Friday afternoon into Friday night. Most models have this precipitation offshore but a few models have low pressure overall closer to Long Island, bringing this heavier band of precipitation across eastern portions of the region. If trend closer to coast occurs, snow amounts of a few inches could be seen for most of the region, locally higher possible.
  14. If you look at the anomaly map for that same time it sure looks like a torch.
  15. Surprised to see the ground covered in Wading River with a slushy 1/2” - wasn’t expecting anything out here in eastern Suffolk. 39F with some drizzle now.
  16. The warming trend is pretty clear on that chart though.
