  1. yeah we are in that band too - probably 1.5" here (i'm at around 400').
  2. some of these shots from like Mississippi are crazy - blowing/drifting snow with temps in the low teens. Of course all the roads are snow covered because it's MS.
  3. it's just been wintry all day - temps in the mid 20s, light snow falling, snow everywhere.
  4. for some reason they didn't treat many of the side streets in Tenley/AU park. A lot are snow covered. Wisconsin and Mass seem to still be clear.
  5. Close to an inch here in NW DC, light snow all day. Just beautiful.
  6. dewpoint creeping up a bit with some virga overhead 28.6/5
  7. Yup - you have to feel happy for Detroit!
  8. The absolutely worst storm to bring up is March 01. This one is second.
  9. LOL - i've never seen someone that open in the NFL.
  10. lol i used to do brunch before kids - although my daughter and I had a great lunch at the District Taco in Tenleytown as the snow fell lol
  11. you all go into downtown Staunton or you have another spot? Enjoy!!
  12. the record was actually set in the 2010s and I doubt we were gonna break it. We'd have to go basically snowless until sometime in March.
  13. maybe there is some merit in starting a 2nd thread if things aren't looking great
  14. We drove out to Winchester a couple weeks ago (a helpful middle meeting ground between Staunton and DC to pick up my daughter when she stays with my parents lol), and I was surprised that the elevation on the east side of the BR was basically the same as the west heading towards Winchester. The valley is so much lower around Winchester than around Staunton and points south. In Rockbridge County it actually goes above 1800' until it starts descending as you head towards Roanoke.
  15. lol - now ocean piers are reviewing scientific papers and data? The word is peer - and yes, of course the climate is always changing. The issue here is human influence is causing that change to accelerate in unnatural ways. Don't talk about "peer reviewed data" if you are just going to dismiss the mountains of data and research - also peer reviewed - that supports that conclusion.
  16. it's not like 2F of warming globally means it's 2F warming around the world in a uniform manner. Not only do you have varying degrees of warming in different parts of the world, but such changes alter weather patterns such that regional climates change fairly dramatically. That seems to be what we are seeing here. A good chunk of that 2F warming has occurred since the late 20th Century.
