a lot of people make a big deal about this here and in NYC, forgetting that these are the stations of record for the cities in which they reside (technically DCA is barely in Arlington County, but Arlington and DC are more or less dense urban areas). They are not the stations of record for someone's house at 500' of elevation 30 miles from the city.
temps actually ticked up a couple degrees with a switch in wind more to the south (and lighter) before picking back up and turning back to the N/NW. With that, the temps have resumed falling. Seems like a dry front passed through.
honestly, that is one of the better things about this climate in the winter. even when we get legit cold, there are always breaks. Even in NYC, they weren't as frequent. After 4 or 5 weeks of proper cold, it gets annoying.
highly unlikely it goes back to anything resembling the original name (for a variety of reasons) - but picking "Commanders" was a lasting fuck you from Snyder. DC does not have the best track record on name changes (Wizards, really?). I'm not certain they will change the name - Harris seems to be open to it, but it would definitely be something new if it happened.
I think Bowser and Harris will put together a really solid plan - an entertainment district, housing, retail, etc - and it will happen. Probably by around 2030.
