  1. yep - DCA is like Central Park (KNYC). It takes the cold air advection to really cool it down. Of course, now that the wind is lighter the urban areas are holding steady (27F here in Tenleytown, 30F at DCA).
  2. DCA 47/27 on the day. Despite the cold temps, we still haven't had a day with the daily avg at or below freezing.
  3. lol but you're scared to go to the city?
  4. DCA finally got below 30 (low of 27F).
  5. folks are just gonna have to get accustomed to the fact that we'll hit the 60s a lot in winter going forward. doesn't mean we won't get cold and snowy periods as well.
  6. Low of 30F again at DCA. 27F here in the alpine areas of the District. I have noticed that, in the absence of a northerly wind, the temp basically bottoms out around 1:00 to 1:30am and is pretty steady until sunrise.
  7. snow used to be fairly common in December west of 95 / along the I-81 corridor.
  8. lol was thinking the same - maybe we're just getting cold intolerant because we live in the tropics now lol DCA only got down to 31F of course (still no 20s) - Down to 27F here in upper NW.
  9. Low of 28F here in upper NW. 30F at DCA, which sounds about right.
  10. 35F at DCA - looks like the freeze will officially be on the 30th.
  11. is the band set up elsewhere or did it just not materialize at all?
  12. Was looking at the Nov averages for DCA - they will drop a little with today and tomorrow being colder than normal, but we basically had a November that is comparable to the average in Charleston, SC lol. Sharp turnaround for Dec however.
  13. lol DCA still didn't get below 40F overnight. Will definitely have a freeze tonight I would think.
  14. Hope folks enjoyed our 10 days of fall this year! On to winter starting tomorrow.
  15. i watch games that are interesting, which is never any game involving Washington.
  16. Do you think the Wiz ever get tired of losing by 20-30+ points every game? They are truly an embarrassment.
  17. Time to take a break and go touch grass Howard. Maybe take a drive out to Garrett County to see some snow.
  18. Yeah we were 34F that morning too (33.8F). It got down to 32.7F here on the morning of Nov 13th, so that's our coldest.
  19. looks like the low was 40F at DCA 37F here in Tenleytown Still no freeze
  20. we had about 2 hrs of light snow on Friday, but the lowest we've gotten (a few days ago) was 32.9F. Looks like we'll probably get a freeze on Black Friday - becoming rather typical (first freeze coming in very late Nov / early Dec). I was looking at the past 6 weeks or so of temps, and we really did have mostly summer-like weather (highs in the 70s/80s, lows in the 50s/60s) until nearly the 3rd week of Nov. And then it snowed shortly thereafter. LOL. No Fall. No Spring. Just Summer and Winter (which is really more like a late Fall/early Spring these days).
  21. yeah - the fact that summer ended here like only two weeks ago is hurting the accumulations with the ground temps in DC lol
  22. looks like DCA will report at least a trace with some light snow reports on recent obs.
