Our big storms, the deform and even WAA snows show 1-2 inches an hour, sometimes even higher. This shows like a quarter inch to a half inch an hour. History also shows that these type storm tend to juice up more as we get closer assuming the low forms in the right place.
  2. That will come tomorrow night. It think it has another 24 hours before it gives us the crushing blow again....of course it will be centered more over MD this time "Never want to be in the bulls-eye too far out"
  3. Very light snow in Towson. Enjoyed my run in it!
  4. snow birds, sleet birds and freezing rain birds?
  5. My childhood wouldn't be the same without '79 & '83. Probably the reason I'm on this forum right now.
  6. I can't wait to get this threat to the other thread! We need something to track in the short range!!
  7. Mitchnick approves of this! He was always in favor of the "reshuffle" if I remember correctly. It does seem that we get snow more when things are not "just right". Maybe something will pop up in the short range and surprise us!
  8. But this is practically the end of January! I sure hope the pattern does not break down fast!
  9. "READ MORE! POST LESS!!" A good adage to abide by here
  10. Thanks for these! I remember reading them at the time. Great storm!
  11. "volatile", "complicated" Aren't those adjectives that tend to not work out so well for Mid-atlantic area? Or is it more of the situation where if we keep getting lots of chances, one of them is bound to work out?
  12. Yes, mostly sleet now with I think some rain mixed in too. Roads are a mess!
  13. Steady moderate snow in Towson. Flake size not too big. Looks like it wants to continue for a while.
  14. I don't mind what I see on latest NAMs for Towson area....but of course I am looking at those silly snow maps.
  15. https://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/prod_overview/local_gmt_conversion.shtml I always need to look at this to figure out what time the maps are referring to.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but experience tells me that sometimes right where the transition line of snow/no snow is there is a relative burst of energy that creates higher snowfall amounts on the winning side of that battle. Could this be the case in today's scenario? Or will it be simply snow to ice for those in the battle zone?
  17. I appreciate your observations and insight during this event! You have been very positive/optimistic, yet reasonable and realistic about expectations. Keep it coming:)
  18. Genuine light snow now in Towson with instant stickage on all surfaces!
  19. With a little backside love for Baltimore area!
  20. First tiny snowflakes spotted just south of Towson! Woo-Hoo!! It's a win!!
  21. I'm riding the WRF all the way to the bank on this one! I think it is onto something
