  1. You can see it very well here on a clear night (and we are not that far!). My brother lives in Rome where you can’t even see a meteorite coming straight at you and was freaked out the first time he saw the Milky Way lol
  2. I suppose this is an official end to the growing season? Forgot to bring the hibiscus in.
  3. Definitely color showing up here. Hard to capture in photos but about 25% of trees have some red in them. Took this today from my beach area looking towards the ski slopes (if you squint you can see the new gondola)
  4. Same here. P&C went from 39 to 32 so if it radiates well we may get colder than 2 days ago. We'll see! Plants are inside so no worries there.
  5. My point wasn't that there is no difference. My point was more that whether it's -10 or -30 I still don't really do much of anything outside so it doesn't matter. I usually even avoid skiing if it's below 0. I don't care for it.
  6. Hard to take good pictures of it (especially while driving) but change is well under way here
  7. Didn't even realize it was going to cool off so much tomorrow. Our forecast is for a high of 59 and a low of 38... Which will mean upper 20s at my spot if we radiate (yesterday's 31.6 was a forecasted low of 41). Kill it all. Actually surprised by how little damage the frost did. I would not even think it happened had I not seen it first hand. But I guess plants are pretty hardened at this point.
  8. That definitely describes us. Retention is not that good - especially compared to Bartlett/Hart's Location just on the other side of the notch, but we have several more weeks of snow on the ground than they do thanks to the early season snow and the better retention later in the season, when they warm up much faster. Also, the radiational cooling can give some pretty extreme morning lows (I have seen more -30's since moving here than I care to count), but to be honest I'm not sure that the difference between -30 and -10 really matters. Till it's above 0, it's cold and I tend to avoid being outside too long. Summer in my opinion is close to perfection. Warm during the day but not very hot, and get that sweater on at night. Just wish it weren't so short lived.
  9. I'm messaging you back right now! It's funny, my sister said she would love the job but would NEVER even consider living somewhere where you get this much snow and cold. Which is kinda what prompted me to post something here!!! Where else can you find a bunch of awesome nuts who enjoy this kind of weather? Granted, I'm pretty sure that as much as they love snow a majority of this board would not put up with our weather. It's a long relentless winter.
  10. And just like summer, we are getting a NASTY storm that just came out of the blue. Sheets of rain
  11. Aww you guys are too nice. I actually thought about her - we had chatted before she left but I'm not sure she's interested in moving back up. Diane definitely let me know if interested!
  12. Hey this is a LONG shot but worth mentioning. If anyone is interested, we are looking for a receptionist/real estate assistant for our new location right at the base of the ski resort. Aside from receptionist, the main role is to assist with customer emails, phone calls, answer basic questions about our condos, ordering supplies and a variety of administrative tasks. With time (or if we get a more proficient candidate) would also like to assist with payroll, owner payments and reports, and some basic bookkeeping. We have been growing rapidly (from 5 to just about 40 units in less than 2 years), and the job has a lot of upside potential for the right candidate as we continue to grow. Pay is competitive (start at $15/hr) with 1 week off, fully paid medical and dental, and as a side perk we get $10 lift tickets on weekdays. Weekend work is required. Could be a good opportunity for someone with the right skills/interest looking to move up here and enjoy our weather extremes.
  13. Yes that was my last year trying to grow tomatoes. I had cherry tomatoes JUST starting to turn and poom - gone. Then of course it warmed up and stayed warm for quite a while after that, but not enough for them to recover.
  14. Lol that's what North Conway feels like now. When I first started coming up I had a house in Bartlett and at that time it felt like Scandinavia
  15. Yes We radiate like a mofo here, so this is not at all unusual. My kid goes to school in Whitefield and they're balmy compared to us lol, so pretty much on time. Earliest I've seen it was August 17 2 or 3 years ago.
  16. No issues here. He can give a shut out to Bretton Woods Rentals lol
  17. A better picture now that the sun is out
  18. 32F on the dot at the moment. First frost!
  19. Lol. We used to go chestnut picking a lot when I was a kid in italy. There are entire forests there of chestnut trees. Prickly but fun
