  1. So... it's time to start thinking of snow measuring. One challenge is always the small, daily snow we usually get. Has anybody tried something like this??? Stratus RG202 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X3KTHS/ref=twister_B07NDM7Q8B?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
  2. Yeah the new restaurant looks awesome. Wont open till next summer though. The gondola is ready to go. Don't particularly care for gondolas except for when it's really cold.
  3. We managed to eat outside twice in a row. Impressive for September. Getting a bit chilly towards the end as we dropped into the low 60s, but still very enjoyable. I need to get some patio heaters next year to do this more.
  4. Today in Sugar Hill. Seems pretty much around schedule here, should peak in another 10 days or so? Early October seems about average for this area
  5. 32 to 74 here. 42 degree delta. My corn was ALMOST ready to harvest but it's fried to a crisp. Dammit. Can't grow anything up here. And I started it in a greenhouse so it could go into the ground as soon as the weather allowed in the spring.
  6. That sounds fantastic. We are getting a ton of last minute bookings; I think most of the population is pretty stoked about it.
  7. 35.4. I wonder if we slip below freezing again
  8. Progressing very nicely. Some of the little trees are really stunning. Is there a reason why saplings tend to be so colorful?
  9. You can see it very well here on a clear night (and we are not that far!). My brother lives in Rome where you can’t even see a meteorite coming straight at you and was freaked out the first time he saw the Milky Way lol
  10. I suppose this is an official end to the growing season? Forgot to bring the hibiscus in.
  11. Definitely color showing up here. Hard to capture in photos but about 25% of trees have some red in them. Took this today from my beach area looking towards the ski slopes (if you squint you can see the new gondola)
  12. Same here. P&C went from 39 to 32 so if it radiates well we may get colder than 2 days ago. We'll see! Plants are inside so no worries there.
  13. My point wasn't that there is no difference. My point was more that whether it's -10 or -30 I still don't really do much of anything outside so it doesn't matter. I usually even avoid skiing if it's below 0. I don't care for it.
  14. Hard to take good pictures of it (especially while driving) but change is well under way here
  15. Didn't even realize it was going to cool off so much tomorrow. Our forecast is for a high of 59 and a low of 38... Which will mean upper 20s at my spot if we radiate (yesterday's 31.6 was a forecasted low of 41). Kill it all. Actually surprised by how little damage the frost did. I would not even think it happened had I not seen it first hand. But I guess plants are pretty hardened at this point.
  16. That definitely describes us. Retention is not that good - especially compared to Bartlett/Hart's Location just on the other side of the notch, but we have several more weeks of snow on the ground than they do thanks to the early season snow and the better retention later in the season, when they warm up much faster. Also, the radiational cooling can give some pretty extreme morning lows (I have seen more -30's since moving here than I care to count), but to be honest I'm not sure that the difference between -30 and -10 really matters. Till it's above 0, it's cold and I tend to avoid being outside too long. Summer in my opinion is close to perfection. Warm during the day but not very hot, and get that sweater on at night. Just wish it weren't so short lived.
  17. I'm messaging you back right now! It's funny, my sister said she would love the job but would NEVER even consider living somewhere where you get this much snow and cold. Which is kinda what prompted me to post something here!!! Where else can you find a bunch of awesome nuts who enjoy this kind of weather? Granted, I'm pretty sure that as much as they love snow a majority of this board would not put up with our weather. It's a long relentless winter.
