Aside from the consistent snow cover we’ve had, which I know is a local thing, another thing that’s been different this year is the ice. The Ammonoosuc is completely iced over, I have not seen it so frozen in a while. Could be some serious ice damming issues if we end up with a big cutter.

In the meantime, looks like another pretty good stretch coming up, starting with the current WWA for 3-6”

Just experienced that. My kid had a basketball game in Lisbon, past Littleton along the VT border, and there was barely an inch on the ground there. Even Littleton has very little. Bubble is a good definition; it seems like it’s been such a great January but without upslope it really hasn’t done much. But that’s easy to forget when we’ve had snow probably a good 70% of days in January

Hey! I just read your online review - thank you soooo much, you’re far too kind!!! I’m so glad you had a good time. It’s definitely been a nice January. I don’t particularly care for the cold and have skipped several days of skiing because of it, plus a pesky stomach bug, but while the snow isn’t as deep as it probably should be, the conditions are quite stellar. Upslope is definitely a nice insurance policy, and one of the reasons I chose Bretton Woods is that I have not found a single ski resort in the East that has such consistently good snow. A perfect combination of upslope, terrain, lack of wind, great grooming. And hey, we can drive 20 minutes to Cannon or 40 to Wildcat and be reminded that you’re still on the East Coast! Don’t get me wrong, I love those mountains too, as I love Stowe, but the snow quality does not compare. Felt that earthquake today BTW. That was bizarre.

One of the squalls today was insane lol. Visibility was almost zero for a few minutes

Yeah, over time you learn to figure out how to adapt it. In rad cooling, go under. In cutters, go over. And most of the time, it’s a crapshoot anyways

Very elevation dependent around here. Snow here at home at 32F, about 3/4”, but it was plain rain in Groveton all the way to Twin Mountain

Just not to break the streak, got light snow last night and overnight, making it 13 consecutive days of measurable snow. Pretty impressive given the last few years

Just looked at the report. Bretton Woods has 57/63 trails open, plus 9 glades. Definitely can’t complain (but you’re right, Conway has not been doing great, although I’ve heard Attitash wasn’t so bad - it’s hardly ever great anyways)
