  1. It seems like leaves literally grew overnight. Amazing.
  2. Agree - it felt fantastic! Even during the day it was very enjoyable (we were doing Disney so no pool access during the day). Mexico was downright hot but I was in the pool all day there. Coming back to 40 degrees and the smell of smoke (renters had stove going) felt like the transition from summer to fall. Off topic, but really sad situation down in Mexico. Beaches that used to be immaculate were covered in sargassum. Apparently it's been happening for 2 years. Some attribute it to global warming and pollution but it's not entirely clear. Still, heavenly places like Akumal which had swimming pool like coastline now have brownish water and piles of algae everywhere. It's sad. We went diving and you notice a thick brown layer in the top 20 ft or so of water. The reef don't seem affected... For now. But it's a stark wake up call and reminder of what we are doing to this planet.
  3. Got back last night from a Mexico and Orlando trip. Glad that I missed this nonsense. I was hoping to have some more green by now, still nothing though at least the daffodils are up and the forstythia is sporting its usual 4 flowers on the lowest branch. Yippee. I'm soooo ready for summer.
  4. A word of caution. Tried that a few years ago when I first bought my current house and it was a disaster. Granted I live in snowland and my driveway is a quarter of a mile long, but even with weights and chain the JD125 we have would slip and get stuck all the time. Driveway is flat. Then one time we got an inch and a half of sleet and it couldn't do anything to it at all. That was the final straw (and happened on like day 85 of the 90 day return policy). Took it back to Lowes and got a plow.
  5. It's been pounding all day here. Unexpected
  6. I hope SNE gets buried. Not only do they deserve it after what they've endured this season, but this is the time of the year where people quickly stop thinking about skiing if they don't see snow. And the more they think about skiing the more they come up and the better we do in the tourism industry. And I like making money.
  7. 127.5" for the season; a bit ahead of last year's 110.4" so far in the season, but not a huge difference
  8. Haven't updated mine in a while... 114" for the season to date
  9. Definitely do an overnight sometime. There's plenty to see! Beautiful mountains, very ragged
  10. Speaking of Cannon, picture from today
  11. Skied Cannon today, it wasnt bad at all and a couple of trails still had decent powder
  12. As was Bretton Woods. Just awesome to have glades open in November.
  13. Bretton Woods opens on Saturday. They reported 8-12" today on top of what was already there, which was over a foot in the upper elevations. Should be an awesome opening day!
  14. Ha, thanks for doing this! I've been ridiculously busy, I'll enter my numbers in the next day or two
  15. New gondola at Bretton Woods starting to take shape
  16. Over 36” on the ground. That snowflake thingie is the top of my stake
  17. Thanks - never thought of that. Downloading a free one right now, thanks for the tip!
  18. Same here. How do you get an alarm on your phone?
  19. That's exactly how it was happening! I need to start paying attention to the sky, I didn't realize it was so common...
  20. Weird that this thread is dead but just saw northern lights over Bartlett for the first time tonight. Faint greenish glow, pulsing between weaker and stronger. Very cool.
  21. From Winchester/Arlington Heights area. Glad to have the forum back!
