  1. https://m.jpost.com/International/El-Niño-could-hit-at-the-end-of-2020-physicists-warn-612747 El Niño 2020-21 Let's GO! And I don't mean these stupid fake ninos of the last couple years. Bonafide MOD NINO...(but not a super one...might not do us much good, lol) And I don't care how this is 9 months too early...want long range? Here's your long range!
  2. Ya know, I had thought about whether what some of us seem to suffer from bears any comparison to SAD/SDD (like an opposite form, almost). But ya hit on the head, though...And see, it's so illogical to be depressed about this when, as @stormtracker said, you're still breathing and in relatively good health. And yet still, some of us struggle...and I don't quite understand why. So many blessings that we couldn't count them all...and yet some of us sit here being depressed from a lack of snow? I don't get it...it's like an entity that has some kind of control over the mind or something. I get the feeling some truly haven't mastered how to always have things to look forward to...that could be the center of it. If you have trouble throughout the year...then along come DJF and ya start placing your hopes on having snow to look forward to, and we have a season like this instead...and boom. Hence the result. Not a good cycle to be in! (Hey, maybe we oughta start a snow psychology thread...lol Or perhaps a perspective thread people can go to to remember how NOT big of a deal this has to be!)
  3. Yes--you have been all the better for being too busy to check in here regularly! (But undoubtedly you've felt the crapiness of the pattern, lol)
  4. My mind went to a similar place, lol I was gonna rail on this winter for messing yet another thing up!
  5. Thanks for taking the time to write that response, Bob. Yes...there are times when it does adversely affect my life way more than it should...and I really don't know why or how to manage it, tbh. (and I have trouble controlling the sadness the non-snow brings. Snow potential gives the hope of something exciting/fulfilling to look forward to in DJF...) But when an entire season looks bad from January, it's like...the entire winter becomes colored with a gloomy brush (that's how PSU's analysis felt last month)...like the entire Jan and Feb were now worthless, down the toilet, nothing to look forward to, etc...it's tough when this controls ya like this.
  6. March snow is a pain for two reasons: 1) the obvious (need heavy rated to stick in the cities, sun angle, etc) 2) The early Daylight Savings stupidity makes weather model watching a pain...hate waiting an hour later for those. The only way I'd be okay with that is if we got an anomalous foot next month...lol
  7. Well I'd rather there not be a tease...not even looking ahead (as much as I wish there were something hopeful) This is the worst winter we've ever had outside of 1972-73. The WORST...And who knows if the next winter or the one after will be much better. Had something working against us the last 4 years (but at least we still got ambiance snow...can't even buy that). Tired of hearing "end of the month"...mercy. To punt Feb on the tenth? That is a depressing month....we deserve a late save, though...
  8. Whatever the case...I hope we don't have to see this again for a long time. Absolute worst pattern to be in (didn't think anything was worse than ninas...but clearly this setup is. At least we can get a couple inches here and there with a nina, smh).
  9. Shoot...as winter like this...is plenty of justification for an online meltdown of epic proportions. I don't have anywhere else to vent where folks would even remotely understand... I can't even look at any video or new stories about snow elsewhere right now without being depressed. Worst I have ever felt in the middle of winter...knowing that things are so stuck in the worst possible position. I can't chase right now either. It's the feeling of...having not much else to look forward to until it snows again. Not logical, and not true...but that's what it feels like. How do you just process and accept a winter like this without it ruining your entire day, week, month, etc...This thing got me depressed when my energy is needed elsewhere. Yet it's hard to think about anything else... ...but we can't control the weather.
  10. I'd suggest taking a break from this board and posting. I probably should....although I ain't got nowhere else to put this but in the panic room or something (leave me alone, reap). Beyond frustrated and depressed...But enough. Won't clog up this thread, anymore (not like there's anything going on atm, but I'll respect the rules)
  11. Well...looks like this thread may become pointless until spring barring a fluke...but yes, yes I know...LR is still LR--even if it turns into multiple cutters, lol
  12. I wish I could...never chased before, so I'm not sure whether it'll ease my depression over this winter, but...I'd consider giving it a shot if I could!
  13. I think a lot of us up and down the East Coast feel like spiralling. I see you guys haven't had it much better...it's hard to know how to just accept a winter this bad.
  14. You're fortunate to have lived long enough to learn that. See this crap ruins my entire day, week, and month.
  15. If ya can't get a fluke in February...in a pattern like this...why in the world would it work in March?
  16. Oh I hear ya (but it is a little worse when we have the snowhole, lol). But yeah...this one is high on the sucks list. Ain't no winter worsened my depression more than this one...mercy!
  17. Hard not to...because flukes can still happen. Not often (that's why they're flukes) but not impossible. Next week could be/could've been one of those moments...just doesn't seem to work out right now.
  18. Just want this month to be over...just get out from all this snow depression and quit being reminded of how snowless the immediate future may be.
  19. At least we ain't alone...the entire coastal northeast is struggling under this +AO dictatorship...
  20. What is left then...dream about 10-11 months from now when we MIGHT get snow again? It's kinda like happiness delayed...Don't look to the weather for happiness...but we do it anyway, lol (although something about this seems emotionally wasteful...)
  21. We got just inside of 5 days...lol And it was a bit more of a tease this time because it looked a bit different at the outset (complete with suppressed solutions, lol). Hadn't seen that all winter, but....I suppose the AO is just too strong. Man I hope we are compensated for this next year if this is really it.
  22. You're fortunate to be able to travel for snow...
  23. Well, just for history's sake (best snows usually stop after the 20th--with very little accumulating snows between then and the end of the month)...and also ya never know if we could thread the needle/fluke into something before then. Forget March, I'd say...
