As a general thing...I'm not sure we in this region have much room to complain about how long a snowpack lasts. It is dicey enough trying to get deep snow in the first place! How long it lasts oughta be considered a bonus, imo. Not to say I don't like a good snowpack...but I'd still rather have a deep snow then roast than no deep snow at all! Give me a 1-2 footer any day!

Glad I don't remember March 2001. My first painful memory of a miss...was when it was supposed to be snowing when I woke up (on a Saturday), and it was clear blue skies instead, lol I cannot remember the year but it had to be in the early 2000s

Never skied or been on a slope...but I'd be willing to try it sometime--though the thought of having to stand on two thin sticks going down a hill sounds a but terrifying, lol

Why not? Because if you're optimistic you can be further disappointed...where as if you're already pessimistic, you kinda get it out the way if it doesn't work out, and are ecstatic if it does. Hey I hear ya--I'm not sure we've seen a better setup/pattern in a long time. Like Bob said--looking at this week, it just feels like, at last, it finally wants to snow!

Ignorance was literally bliss...lol And really, despite my youth and the technology boom I grew up in, the only tracking I did was the local news and the 7 day...lol Wasn't until the 2013-14 winter that I stumbled on this site. And boy am I glad I wasn't on here for some of the fails--if we failed it was better not to know how close it was! But with everything at our fingertips (for better or worse, lol) I think that psychologically we get over exposed. Having all these maps can get ya all wrapped up in it...And then when something approaches--and even while it's happening--there's obsession over radar appearances instead of looking out our dang windows! Yep...it was definitely less stressful before!
