From the NE board...facts, lolol
-
Hahaha Fair, lol Nah you good
-
And that -PNA....The more neutral/slightly positive look being shown on guidance a couple weeks ago never really verified, did it?
-
Yeah that one in Feb 2021 was just dumbdy-dumb. Split the dang thing south into Texas instead of over us (would've made all the difference that season!)
-
To balance out that shrink-worthy post...thoughts on this? (This is actually very informative for those of us who want to understand the PV better) https://www.severe-weather.eu/global-weather/winter-season-2022-2023-polar-vortex-power-up-stratospheric-warming-wave-forecast-united-states-europe-fa/ Now I know looking to a SSW is a bit of a desperation move...but I'm wondering if anyone can recall any instances where one of these actually helped us? Lol

Oh I don't know, maybe because the snow drought has been awful, and a reminder of something that may indicate yet another year of the awful is depressing, and maybe I ain't made peace with that or the snow drought yet? Already knowing it's awful don't make it any easier to take. Sometimes not thinking/being reminded of it on a special day with lots of joy is better than thinking about it and immediately having the mood dampened. Yeah I had nice service earlier where I played, had a nice dinner, a few presents...peaceful evening. But in comes those numbers and a reminder "Oh that's right we're in a depressing snow drought and it ain't lookin' good this year either"...and suddenly that colors everything. Better not to hear about it, for real.
-
Tbh I ain't even remember asking for that specifically. But dang it man not today...You like lookin' up depressing stuff on Christmas Day? Like I said I stayed off of here most of the day to avoid negativity, tbh Why anybody is looking up negative snow stats on Christmas Day is beyond me.
-
I mean even Christmas day he gotta bring this stuff up, man...a rest for one day would be nice. I didn't even wanna come on here to say Merry Christmas because I did not want the negativity. Now that it's after midnight I poke my head in and the first thing I see? That, lol
-
Today (Christmas Eve) I celebrated my birthday with my folks. Said celebration included... HA! Take that anti-carrites Merry Christmas everyone!
-
Ah very nice--thanks for sharing! Ya know, the opening chord progression sounds just like The Young and the Restless, lol There was a meme I saw where it was talking about not seeing his work on a Christmas program: "I can't believe it's not Rutter!" Ya know, John Rutter is as successful as a composer can be in this day and age--how his work is cemented in the choral repertoire is really quite something!
-
Man that is awesome--to be able to still feel his interpretation even after he had passed on! That's when you know it was a truly special gift. Haha Your dad sounds like he really knew music! Chuckling at the bit about him almost boycotting the orchestra because of that conductor, lol But hey, I kinda get it! And some conductors are better with some composers than others...I've heard some questionable Beethoven interpretations where I'm almost yelling at the radio/phone like it's a football game or something, lol (like when conductors interpret as if they took a bottle of Nyquil...but that's another rant) Dohnanyi and Szell...I'll have to sit down and compare the two! Beethoven's 9th is of such depth that you can get a variety of intperetations (some good some ehhhh...). That balancing act between the classical and romantic--that is the awesome challenge of interpreting Beethoven
-
One of THE best! I mean he is a gold standard and no one did it quite like he did. Impeccable is a word for it! Impeccable and inspired--to the point where he had his own unique sound that he produced from his choirs. Man I'm just learning how to really conduct a choir (been taking my bumps and bruises, but it's always worth it!)--always look to folks like that that really know their stuff and work the "magic"!

December 22-23, 2022: Warm Rain to Arctic Chill

Dang...wasn't quite expecting the downed trees! Just barely squeezed by one and had to detour around another, lol -
By psu numbers that might save the winter
-
I feel ya man. And the fact that the cold is only gonna last a few days is even worse. We are in just some kind of snow drought right now that ya hope isn't our future. Even for here this is really bad. And this fail is just salt in the wound given just how close we appeared to be to having a white Christmas. I try not to rant on here as much, but days like today make it frickin' hard not to. Yes, there are more important things in life--it's just...this still SUCKS. It ain't right man...I wish I didn't care as much when things don't work out. But...a snowlover is a snowlover, lol
-
Go on and say it. If that's the case we are absolutely cooked (literally). Would that even get any better in a niño?
-
Alright--get that 1/2" to PSU's house and we won't completely suck this winter
-
Thought this was a relevant nugget
-
Hey my expectations for this year were low too (I did leave the door cracked open in case the hunga tunga eruption benefited us). My focus has been on next winter to see if that still works. Let's just get this dang triple nina outta here and start with a new deck. Meanwhile the break from tracking won't be such a bad thing for me anyway, lol (although I'd certainly love a surprise!)
-
This snow drought is worse than the 1970s? I mean, eyeballing those numbers for BWI...looks almost as bad, lol Eta: The BWI numbers between 70-71' and 76-77' are as follows: 13.0, 14.0, 1.2, 17.1, 12.2, 11.5, 11.1 Total: 80.1 inches

Last few Christmases all we've had is Fa la la la la la nina... -
Same! Yeah sometimes I wish he wouldn't to keep things lighter at least for this time of year...BUT, a stat is still a stat and doesn't quite care how it makes ya feel, lol

May as well post 'em now and get it out of the way, lol But it would he interesting if if worked out like that...numbers can't always see anomalies, BUT around here they ain't meaningless either. Btw I'm not insinuating your stats aren't pertinent...but dang man the late night doom!
