  1. Well as soon as he starts it things turn more blue at 12z...the admirable optimism of @WinterWxLuvr off to a good start
  2. Ah darn it. Came in here for the "When in winter you hear thunder..." folklore
  3. My goodness...Praying for Demar Hamlin and his family.
  4. So let me get this straight (actually been meaning to ask about this)...Warmer SSTs...make it harder to get 50/50s, and thus less "tucked" solutions? Or am I missing something?
  5. The last two years I've vascillated back and forth over what the future of our snow is gonna be. I haven't known whether to just give up on it entirely and just hold on- tightly to the memories we have from 2003, 2010, 2013-14, and even 2016...or think perhaps it could turn around. I can take a bad winter...but I think most of us don't wanna think about the future of our snow. The thought of the thing that brought joy during the winter months may not be there as much. And the prospect of a future where you gotta pack up and travel hours away to get snow above your ankles (or even your shoes for that matter) is...depressing. And couple that with our current snow drought...that is literally the worst thing. Btw Yeah this is a whine post. But it ain't nothin' else going on right now so I oughta be allowed just one this week
  6. I always appreciate your posts overall. And I don't think anybody wants ya to blow smoke (unless it's cold powder that makes everybody's streets cave). I just think the repeated reminders of longer term doom (beyond this season) are unpleasant to keep hearing about everyday. You're calling balls and strikes and I get that...so maybe it's just me, lol But I dread your posts these days because it's always bad news about not just this season (which is struggling right now) but future seasons...and the reminders of such. So that's like one depressing thing (current) and future depressing things (even less snow that we used to get). But again, that might just be a me problem. Still appreciate your knowledge and experience though--not saying anything against that at all!
  7. Who posted the chart with the analogs for deep -AOs in December and what happened the rest of the winter? I wanna look at that again.
  8. Forget doom scrolling...PSU has a literal doom scroll (complete with a sinister-looking feather pen)
  9. I'm sure it's a good look for @CAPEthough But yeah you right...that would be a more typical nina-like miss
  10. Man it's too much negativity today on here and Twitter...between the snow drought and the Ravens, misery abounds! I gotta get off of both these things, lol Can't start off the New Year like this!
  11. Yeah hard to say if it's gonna be cold enough in time. I had some optimism for that window, but ehhh....that might go in psu's log book unless we get some cold air from somewhere! (I mean can we get a little bit? Lol)
  12. To me the defense has been dominant at times. But as you said...the offense ain't scoring enough! The defense is just frickin' gassed by the last 2 mins of a game. I mean they basically can't even give up one TD without us losing, smh
  13. Don't even know what you're referring to dude, lol
  14. Well, there was really only one drive that really sucked (the punt return to the 40). But overall I don't view this as a game where we just blew it...Steelers just had a great game plan and went after our stout run def and actually beat it! All the same...it still sucks that two of the three home primetime losses have been the Steelers...boooo!
  15. Not to mention the gift from Heyward, lol And Likely must've heard me...was just expressing that I was a bit disappointed with his play so far...and there he goes! (but I think he's gonna really breakout year 2)
  16. I'm 10 mins late, but that was an excellent goal line stand on that last drive--Big boy play by Stephen's there!
  17. But aren't we talking about a pattern as opposed to a discreet threat like that one? We're talking more longwave pattern here, right? The advertised pattern last month did materialize...but as Ralph aptly put it...we coughed up the football, lol But what the ens and sometimes the ops are showing is not nina-like even if single op runs show misses (which shouldn't matter beyond 10 days). Can we really know yet?
  18. Yeah this does not feel like your typical nina. I mean...the last 4 we had before this one...weren't they all colder on the front end? (Some cold/dry, others like last year cold with some snow around). This one seems a bit unusual...
  19. I think eventually we'll get used to the state of things. We may need to just let go of how things used to be (difficult but possible since eventually expectations will be lowered, lol) And like you said, none of this suggests we can't still get bigger snows It's just that the totals in between may become more mediocre. That part is kinda sad at times, but in the New Year I'm tryin' not to get too sad/depressed about weather. Not sure it's worth the energy (I say that but it ain't gonna be easy to let go of some stuff...We've certainly had some fun times!) But again...I think we can still get big snows!
  20. Gotta be careful on the PBP (especially for those of us with less experience, lol)
  21. Yeah you right I do...I think it's just recency bias. During this brutal stretch all the Miller B attempts have flopped...so perhaps my perspective is indeed a bit skewed!
  22. Whoa holllllldup...I'm reading an article that said the first of the 2010 twin blizzards was a Miller B? Huh...
  23. *tries to bite tongue about Miller Bs being awful for yard* So I'm wondering...do Miller As really only exist in niños? (I'd like to see a chart of just how many of our coastal were As or a hybrid vs Bs) I mean they seem to only happen a few times a decade!
  24. Thanks for the write-up! (I'll try to look past you saying Miller B since the rest was so good )
  25. Ah dang it for the life of me I couldn't figure out the "k", haha Carry on
