  1. High heat staying just to the south of me where the sun has come out. Overcast and 41/35 here.
  2. Special weather statement out here for patchy freezing rain this morning. I’m still at 26°..
  3. I don’t think I’ve seen these counties split up like this before.
  4. Wonder when the last time was that DC got snow with 850’s of -18° ?
  5. Last night we had a 10 degree rise when the snow ended. Probably happen again if we get some mixing.
  6. Forecast low tonight is 30. Currently 20.
  7. Once again those Kuchera numbers are giving my yard 17:1 ratios. Hoping to do better than the 0.13” liquid the Euro is showing.
  8. LWX has northerly winds 10-20 mph here all day Sunday. Unusual to get a heavy snow with that.
  9. Those Kuchera ratios N Arlington posted are 16:1 to 18:1 out here.
  10. I don't know if I've ever got 10" of snow at 34 degrees like the Canadian shows. Maybe November 1987.

  14. Snowed for 2 hours. 0.6” accumulation
  15. After relentless virga all day, the skies have finally opened up. Quick coating in a moderate snow shower. 29°.
  16. It was also in the mid-teens while it was snowing. And it was Duke taking the ACC championship 73-72 after a tip-in by Mike Gminski with 9 seconds left. And then the worst no-call I ever saw when Buck Williams was completely taken out trying to rebound Albert King’s last shot.
  17. GFS with another arctic air mass after the late week storm.
  18. Temp departures halfway through the month, and with lots of frigid weather on tap: BWI -4.4 DCA -4.0 IAD -4.0 MRB -5.2
  19. Single digit lows in our area, followed by a southern stream low pressure a few days later that brought rain to our area.
  20. That 1050+mb high it keeps showing would challenge records for the highest barometric pressure in the Central Plains. Hopefully that’s an indication it’s overdone. January 7, 2015 set the previous records in these cities: Grand Island, Nebraska (1056.9 millibars) Lincoln, Nebraska (1055.9 millibars) Omaha, Nebraska (1055.3 millibars) Concordia, Kansas (1055.1 millibars) Topeka, Kansas (1054.3 millibars) Des Moines, Iowa (1052.15 millibars) North Little Rock, Arkansas (1045.07 millibars)
  21. That’s a blast from the past. Sadly. Joe passed in 2007 at the age of 44.
  22. Those divisional games in the early-mid 1970’s were all played before or around Christmas.
  23. Temp briefly spiked to 42° with the frontal passage. Winds now NW gusting to 26 with dews dropping.
