Too early for me to grade the winter here with March still looming. But to date it’s been another lackluster season. I have about an inch more of snow than last year. About 60% of climo.
I have enjoyed the consistent cold weather, but paying the electric bill has taken some of the fun out of that. Some onion snow would certainly be welcome before March Madness and the start of baseball season.
Some pretty intense snow squalls blowing through here this morning. I-81 is shut down due to jack-knifed tractor trailers blocking the southbound lanes.
Martinsburg airport recorded a 56 mph wind gust earlier this morning, after a 62 mph gust in the afternoon yesterday.
Maryland put on a shooting clinic tonight, getting their 20th win of the season. Shot 58% from the field, 46% from 3. Outscored Iowa in the second half 54-24.
The Icon looks just like the storm we had on Tuesday. The one that all models were painting a foot or more across the northern counties for days until they corrected south.
Tired of this loop.
Not sure exactly where the Knickerbocker storm was measured. Probably the National Weather Bureau site on M St., but could’ve been at the Signal Service offices on G St.,next to Lafayette Square. Both sites reported DC obs during the 1920’s.
