  1. Another morning in the teens. Low of 17.
  2. 16°. Coldest morning so far. Edit: low fell to 14
  3. That 1/29-30 storm is one I’ve always regretted missing. Wasn’t quite 3 years old at the time. But in conversations over the years with folks from suburban Maryland, they described it as a pretty fierce storm with a combination of frigid temps, heavy snow, strong winds and exceptionally high drifts.
  4. Already down to 28°. Forecast low is 24. I guess clouds come in later ?
  5. 2.67” was my largest one-day total here since 9/2/2021
  6. Steady rain at 37°. Just hit 0.25” for the morning so far. Edited: lost another 2 degrees in the past hour. Now down to 35 at noon.
  7. 1965 was dry leading in, like this year. Probably most similar in terms of precip of all your analogs preceding the cold season.
  8. Surprised neither of those events in November 1995 amounted to an inch at BWI. Thought I remembered more snow than that when I was living in that area.
  9. It’s November 13th. The writing is clearly on the wall
  10. Dense freezing fog here at 29°. Visibility less than 1/8 of a mile. The forecasted low temperature for this morning was 35.
  11. Thanks! Good to see you posting. Hope you and the family are well.
  12. Driest years on record (since 1926) at Martinsburg, WV 21.41" - 1930 22.13" - 2023 (through yesterday) 26.32" - 1991 27.75" - 1969 28.43" - 1947 28.57" - 1957 29.55" - 2001 29.96" - 1964
  13. For my neck of the woods, we look to be on track for the 14th November in the past 17 years with total precip for the month below the long-term mean. Only AN months in that time were in 2011, 2018 and 2022. At MRB, the mean for the entire period of record (since 1926) is 2.85” but since 2000 it has only been 2.46”
  14. Cool. I’ll be interested in seeing what you turn up.
  15. It could be a Nino like 1982-83. Precip was light through the fall and much of the winter. At DCA: Sep 1.71” Oct 1.75” Nov 2.96” Dec 1.94” Then January ‘83 had 1.74” We all know what happened in mid-February.
  16. 21° with a little more darkness left
  17. He’s been posting in the ENSO thread on the main board. With the Philly forum’s demise, hopefully he will join the discussion here when we are teeing up our KU this winter.
  18. Upper 50’s all day here. Some early morning light rain dropped 0.05”
  19. December 1982 had a decent snowfall mid-month. Hopefully we can pull off something like that while we wait all winter for our one big snow in mid-February
  20. 32 here with frost this morning.
  21. This is the scourge of the NFL. It’s hard to get through any Sunday without seeing the zebras egregiously interfering with the outcome of a game.
  22. 0.71” Breezes starting to pick up now.
  23. The Baltimore area is more due than any of us
  24. I also put up a snow stake in my yard in the Fall of 2009. I think most on the boards were expecting a big winter. I remember a post from @Stormchaserchuck1calling for a big snow season for the Mid-Atlantic and Tennessee Valley. At that time he had the reputation as the guy who had forecasted the warmest winter on record a couple of years earlier. So that lent some confidence to the high expectations.
