Haven’t seen this dense of fog in a few years. Fog is beautiful but scary when driving on dark backroads.
Reminds me of a time in Texas we were crossing a lake and the fog on the bridge was so thick you couldn’t see the pavement. We had to stop and let someone out to walk in front of the car to avoid hitting the concrete barrier (curbing bridge). If anyone had come up behind us we’d have died I’m sure. That was probably the 2nd scariest experience I’ve ever had in a vehicle. (First was caught in a tornado off I-20 outside Dallas at 8:30 pm one April. I’ll never forget that noise, shaking, fear)
We did end November slightly above normal didn't we, even with the early cold? Today feels like a real winter day, for sure!
Next two weeks look unsettled for sure, here's hoping we get some temp cooperation.
I hope you're right!
I should clarify I'm by no means cancelling winter - I just have a feeling it's not going to be our year and we miss while others get hit.
Not trying to be negative and not talking about any upcoming threat, just a raw feeling I have that I'm rooting to be wrong.
I've had a gut feeling all fall this winter will be a very poor one for us LSV folks so I'm not getting any hopes up at all. We had such a good year last year (no big, big storm after that first one but we were above climo) that we have to pay the piper.
0z models minus Euro is a nonevent for anyone NW of Harrisburg, maybe an inch or so there (so another rooftop we only) running NE up to the Lehigh Vallet, and Central to NE MD and extreme SE PA get the goods. A Maryland special.
HBG tends to feast or famine - either barely anything or the cold arrives and we get hit harder than expected. Always a really tough call for mets, thankfully it looks like the timing of this is mostly overnight so you'll know what's happening by the time of the morning commute.
What's generating this wind that hit early this am, today? It didn't see anything that'd create it so blustery, but we're getting pretty frequent gusts in the upper 20s.
We've kinda sorta given up trying to fly back to Texas from December to March because it's such a hassle with weather. I mean, we'll do it but we try to not go just for random reasons that time of the year (we usually fly down 6-8 times a year, for reference).
