  1. Sitting at 9. Doubt MDT hits zero or below but we will see. Edit: Now 7, dropped 2 degrees on 12 minutes. Dew is at -12 so it might actually make it to the rare below zero territory. The river is quite ice-covered now so that should help.
  2. Apparently there was/is a massive 30-to-40 car pileup on 222 in Berks County. That sucks. Edit: 27 cars, according to a NBC news affiliate.
  3. Last year I finally got start and keep mine in my garage. Where I live I get wild wind coming from the river up an alley so yea. Wind sucks. It's the worst weather thing save for freezing rain.
  4. Eric Horst went on a little Twitter rant about the Harrisburg-area radar hole today. Here's what he said: @MUweather The Harrisburg "radar hole"...it's a real thing, especially with Arctic snow showers. This traffic camera (near zero visibility snow) at Harrisburg and the Radar view below are both from the same time! How can it be snowing so hard, but nothing on radar? @MUweather I've been talking about this for years...it's flaw in the placement of the radar sites, in that there's not radar coverage below 10,000' in the Capital city of PA. Imagine that! As a result, we can't see these shallow squalls (which are mostly occurring below the radar beam).... @MUweather ...and in the warm season we can't see low-level rotation (i.e. tornadoes). It's a huge problem IMO, but it's never been addressed. Perhaps some State politicians can look into a fix? A local radar would improve forecasts and safety of citizens...and more!
  5. Mountains really did a number on it in HBG - it was a nice squall but by no means a white out or anything. I am on Front St and could still see the capitol dome.
  6. Shelf cloud in that squall in State College. That's pretty cool! https://twitter.com/PSU_RadarMeteo/status/1090618076066926592
  7. Squalls look to be around I-99 now. @MAG5035 if you see anything less us know. CTP is all over warnings/headlines for them today so they must mean business. Friday is trending better and better toward a nice little 1-3" event too. Nickle-and-diming our way to the goal.
  8. 3.5” or so of the fluffiest snow I’ve ever seen I think in midtown hbg. Overperformer in my mind. Bring on the Arctic air!
  9. Maybe 1.5” here? Roads are clear (alleys covered) so at least towns can save some money.
  10. Currently at 31, probably gets to 33-34. Snow will have a hard time sticking on main roads unless we get really good rates I'd guess - the state is closing 3.5 hours early though.
  11. Started snowing here maybe 30 minutes ago. Radar looks pretty decent.
  12. I'm realllllllly curious if MDT breaks 0 tomorrow night. If winds die off quickly I think they'll have a good chance.
  13. Had a dusting this morning. When is round 2 supposed to commence, still 1ish?
  14. I mean the grid. Tuesday Snow. High near 35. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
  15. They’ve dropped the WWA from 3-6 to 2-4 and hbg to 1-3 (was 2-4 earlier tonight(p). HRRR looks horrid, rain at Cashtown nearly.
  16. Next week looks like it wants to be a taste of spring. Might hit 50.
  17. While we're clearly focused on this front passage and the cold that follows, make sure to check out the cold in the midwest. Chicago might hit -20. Parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota might hit -35 actual temperature.
  18. Looking like basically another small 1.5" or so nuisance snow for MDT given 6z and NAM 12z trends.
  19. I don’t believe so - it’s a static URL. Computer generated I’m certain.
  20. Considering the mention rain in my forecast Tuesday you probably are correct.
  21. Is the polar vortex not happening? It looks cold next week but no colder than it was last weekend. Highs in the mid to upper teens don’t make a polar vortex.
