  1. This should be the peak timing - but as windy as it is here @MAG5035 appears to be the winner with lots of 55 mph gusts up that way.
  2. Mind sharing what it shows for me up in MDT? Sorry for barging in but wind is my enemy ...
  3. Good deal - we could use some rain and it's the perfect time for it.
  4. Funny, it's like it knew the advisory was at 10 cause BOOM. Already gusting in the mid 30s. This will go on for like 8 more hours too.
  5. Is Sunday going to be an absolute washout still?
  6. The headlines are from 10-6, think the wind dies down before then?
  7. Advisories hoisted. I expect house damage. Wind always overperforms advisories imo. Wind Advisory URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service State College PA 1151 AM EDT Thu Mar 25 2021 PAZ027-028-036-037-041-042-046-049>053-056>059-063>066-260400- /O.NEW.KCTP.WI.Y.0002.210326T1400Z-210326T2200Z/ Mifflin-Juniata-Franklin-Tioga-Northern Lycoming-Sullivan- Southern Lycoming-Union-Snyder-Montour-Northumberland-Columbia- Perry-Dauphin-Schuylkill-Lebanon-Cumberland-Adams-York-Lancaster- Including the cities of Lewistown, Mifflintown, Chambersburg, Mansfield, Wellsboro, Trout Run, Laporte, Williamsport, Lewisburg, Selinsgrove, Danville, Sunbury, Shamokin, Bloomsburg, Berwick, Newport, Harrisburg, Hershey, Pottsville, Lebanon, Carlisle, Gettysburg, York, and Lancaster 1151 AM EDT Thu Mar 25 2021 ...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 6 PM EDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. * WHERE...Portions of central Pennsylvania. * WHEN...From 10 AM to 6 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. 8. It looks stronger the more north you go - which is usually the opposite. I fully expect multiple 50 mph gusts though.
  9. CTP echoes my wind thoughts but they're even more ominous that I imagined. However, main the focus Friday will be on the potential of strong, gusty winds developing behind the front. Latest model guidance supports a classic high wind scenario for central Pa, with strong subsidence and steep low-level lapse rates in dry slot south of a deepening low pressure track. Forecast soundings indicate 40kt+ gusts are likely over much of the region Friday. The strongest isallobaric couplet and best chance of 50kt+ gusts appears targeted for northwest Pa. Given that this event is still over 48hrs out, have opted to highlight and threat in the HWO and wait for later guidance to guide any potential high wind watch.
  10. Ha, yeah, the HRRR I looked at was ... wrong. Shocking!
  11. Going to go out on a limb and say I see less than .1" of rain tomorrow.
  12. Feels appropriate indeed. Winter is dead. Might as well hope for a long spring MF delay the 85+ degree days.
  13. First day of spring - warm in the sun. A perfect day to get my first Covid vaccine!
  14. Highest was 26 mph but I'm now having gusts occasionally to 28.
  15. In better news I get my first vaccine tomorrow afternoon!
  16. I take back my "it'll snow in March" predication.
  17. Oh, I didn't intend to sound like I was saying anything about anyone here. I don't mind the wind jokes, promise! It just finally hit me why I'm being more and more worried during wind events ...
  18. Everything 2nd week of April (well pre Covid) we fly to Dallas, and every year we are in a tornado warning. It’s clockwork.
  19. Pardon for me a somewhat long, personal and serious post but I need to say this somewhere so here it goes. I post here about wind a lot, as I don’t like it. The truth is, the older I get the more it scare me. This past year has been the worst ever - I couldn’t sleep the last few nights where it was blowing 40+ mph; my brain wouldn’t let me. Talking with a therapist friend, it hit me. I lived through four tornadoes first-hand. one hit my school in 5th grade and lifted part of our roof off. one hit our house at 11:30 pm and ripped it to shreds - the center closet we were in was one of the seven walls still standing one hit our house again a year and a half later around dusk and took part of the roof off one hit as we were crappie fishing at night. We were tied up under a bridge and saw the storm coming but stayed because it was safe from lightning. Well the wind shredded our lines and pontoon boat capsized at 1 am in the middle of a tornado in a lake full of water moccasins. I have untouched persona trauma that wind is now reliving. I’m going to work through it but it will take time. Thanks for letting me rant.
  20. Every storm is spinning in Mississippi already. Going to be a rough day/night for lots of people.
  21. No issues with him at all - happy he's on board. Good to have someone who stands for good chip in. (He was already part owner of LIverpool so this just is a bit of an expansion - he wants to own a team one day so this gets his foot in the door in America that way)
