The masses buying their spring plants at Lowes today will be sad regardless if the CMC and Euro are correct with the Northern Stream dipping south of us. Will challenge for coldest nights of the season. GFS starting to come around to this thought but still 10-15 degrees warmer than the other two.
Anyone who buys or plants before a March 20 or so basically deserves to lose it all.

Looks like rain wants to stick around after the warmup much longer than I imagined - through Sunday midday.

We are probably going to end the season with right around 30 days with snow greater than 1”. The record is 76 days in both the 1916/1917 winter and the 93/94 winter. The worst was 49/50 with 1 day
.Snow at my house is all gone except on the back side of the garage that never sees sun. The vinca is showing through there though so it's not long for the ground.

Liking the (newish old) gig? You able to shoot videos while doing it or is that a no go?

59 in my backyard. All snow in front is gone (it's in the sun nearly all day).

51 beautiful degrees here in Voyagerland!
Hauling water in the 50s and 60s probably beats dealing with snow!

When my wife and I got in our car after our walk, she looked at me asked if I'd put the AC on.
We just ran to the vet to pick up some medicine - wife had her side on HI (82+), mine on LO (65-). So, yeah.

It's downright warm in the sun. Big snowpile out front is virtually gone - probably will be by midday tomorrow.
-
Curious if the snowpile out front is completely gone by the end of day. I'm guessing it will be.

A Norfolk Southern train derailed in Perry County yesterday and has closed the track for at least a day - Amtrak's runs to PIttsburgh had to be cancelled. Amtrak sharing track with freight trains is the absolutely dumbest thing on the face of this planet.

The warmth was early in the day if I recall and very short-lived.

Yea, once the jumbo jet flew over me I would realize it is not rational but for moments lead it up to it may include some It's too low hallucinations.
I built WITF's website and was there for about a year and a half in 2010/11. (Great job, great people - support local public media!) Anywho the building is on the flight path into MDT and up on a hill with an all glass facade. Watching Air Force One do touch and gos all day always made it look like we'd have skid marks on the roof.

I was in St. Maarten years ago and made it a point to go to Maho Beach to watch the jets coming in. If you're (anyone) not familiar with this phenomena, go to Youtube and type in "Maho Beach jet landing". As crazy as it looks on video, it's something else to experience...
It was way more fun when KLM was flying 747s in there.

After Friday/Saturday morning EURO goes on the rain train but plenty of time for that to change.
We're getting a March storm. Maybe mid to late, but it's going to snow in March.

Speaking of ice on the river - even last winter, ever so briefly, there were a couple of days where I saw ice on the Susky heading back and forth to work. This is the first year in my life (I'm 55 and have lived within a few miles of the river since birth) that I have not seen ANY river ice at all.
37" of snow with zero ice on the river - that's a neat little trick right there.
We’ve had ice in the river up here for quite a while.

It snowed here overnight. Wasn't much - appeared to be a dusting - but my driveway was covered when I woke up at 7:15. It then rained a tiny bit about an hour ago, and the melt is now going strong.

Going to be crazy windy tomorrow afternoon. Gusts up to 45 I bet for most of us.

It’s raining a little now. Booooooo.

Wasn't home for measurements today...asked my wife to do her best, she got an average of 4.5" from 3 separate measurements. Going with 4.5", that takes my season total to exactly 37". WAY more than I would have imagined going into this winter - I'm thrilled.
Been a great winter. A few big storms, some pack refreshes, just no real cold blast at all.

we're normally almost spot on. i have 33.5. Damn front street for the win
I might have added incorrectly in my head - I'll take a look at my notes later and confirm. If you had less I likely added a few inches accidently in my head.
-
Just came in from shoveling and measured 4" on the nose (maybe a 1/8" under but f it). I'm putting this down as a 4" storm and my season total is now a very very nice 36..6"

Gotta love driving rainstorms in February.
