Would be interesting to see humidity/dew point data over the same period. I’m guessing whatever patterns bring humidity here were not around back then allowing cool offs in the evening.
Well that and this region has grown exponentially since then.
The people moving to Phoenix in droves (not you, you are fully aware of the climate) have to be really second guessing themselves.

IIRC Ida had a crazy west to east gradient. I don't keep records really but think I had around 4.5" but placed east got quite a bit more. MDT had more than 5" and Lancaster got more than 7".
