  1. That first picture is also more bowed, while the second is more elongated.
  2. did they? good. I never went back to look to see what kind of responses they got. i get the need to tweet out that UMBC was under a warning, especially with graduation ongoing. But it such a horribly worded tweet.
  3. lol theres no way that is from yesterday -- the tornado was part of an embedded cell in a massive squall line. there would't have been the light behind it like that. it wasn't discrete.
  4. I have a friend, who is also a luker here, who works in the area. He sent me a text this morning telling me he was inside a tornado lol us weather nerds are funny. oh well, it is only May. Weve got the summer to get the goods.
  5. You, sir, were in a tornado! the freshly cut grass smell is pretty common given the amount of greenery that is displaced. Glad you're okay! And hopefully your location didn't take on too much damage. I believe that is because it crosses into the next CWA area. happens all the time. they died. I was up until after 1130, saw one of the tornado warned storms and the line dropping southeast. they were weakening as they got closer to the MD/PA line. I could see the lightning up near Harrisburg and points west, but it all stopped on approach. oh well.
  6. Dont come stirring pots in here. It’s one of the few remaining severe threads worth a damn.
  7. colleges need to stop tweeting weather advisories, wtf is this? is UMBC even under a warning right now?
  8. I called my mom to give her the heads up of what was coming (she is in Pasadena), she didn't have TV on or anything but knew if i was calling she needed to get right
  9. yeah, gusty showers with a couple rumbles of thunder here. pretty ho-hum garden variety stuff. like @high risk said, the northern areas just never got warm enough before the line came through.
  10. short terms models have been advertising that all day. i think most will see better stuff when the front moves through later. unless this line picks up some steam
  11. i hadn't checked 12z NAM yet. I see what you mean though. It has some nice cells pre-front around 18-19z, followed by the front later on 00-01z or so. i just know that we tend to need a lot of things to work out well here, and even one thing failing sends everything crashing downward. im sure somewhere there will be thunder and lightning. i'm just not sure how "enhanced risk" worthy it will be, ya know?
  12. ^^ said it yesterday. without the lift, we won't get anything discrete out ahead of the front. LWX agrees.
  13. pretty typical. like high risk said, i think we still see some storms, but whether they are as severe as some of us would like to be, remains to be seen.
  14. SPCs 13z outlook wording for those who don't know where to read it, or are too lazy i remain neutral for now. all the ingredients are there for discrete cells to develop.
  15. Agreed. I think the 5% tornado threat per SPC is generous for us. If any one wants to see a good storm, they have to hope things go discrete before the main line comes through. otherwise, you'll get embedded cells in the line that won't be nearly as exciting. ... if you're a weenie like me who wants a really good storm
