I can offer a bit of background on that. From my discussions with a local tv met, the mention of snow, even if very little, was on purpose just to get people used to it being part of the forecast again. even if it doesn't amount to much. of course, that same met said they were accused of saying it because the grocery stores were paying them to, so... you can't please everyone.
