    COVID-19 Talk

there have been many valid points from people who oppose the stay at home orders, they just aren't delivered well that invites debate. schools and kids risk is one of them. what you or i may deem too risky may not be the same for others, and i get it, and understand. but its just how things are right now. i dont enjoy being home day in and day out, my mental health is shit for sure because of it. but i keep abiding because i know overall those putting the guidelines in place are doing so with everyones best interest in mind. but i acknowledge that its easy for me to say that. we have the means to work from home, haven't missed a paycheck, bills still get paid, food on the table etc. we are lucky compared to many and i feel for those going through it.

i think his argument is that right now kids going to school isnt going to be super safe if the chance they get sick is high. hence him comparing to letting kid set of fireworks.

but thats normal without stay at home orders? I mean there are regular rules and laws you have to follow regardless. supportive of what? stay at home orders? i hate them like everyone else does, but understand its for the best interest. or, at least were. its getting long and drawn out now but ill continue to abide. despite my feelings.

then im not sure what the point of your post was other than to say you agree that we should let parents parent their kids how they see fit.

dont assume you know what parents are or are not doing, then say you dont want to hear about personal experiences. i have my own thoughts on your parenting style. but you do whatever works for your situation and your family.

I agree that the lack of social interaction sucks for kids. But let me parent my kid how I see fit and you worry about yours. Just because YOU think its abuse, doesn't make it so and its not for you to decide.

I just listed it as an example. I'm not in any position to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do in terms of a job and what risk is worth it.

oh sorry, i switched around the genders in my reply. but agree -- especially if she is working in a home. I thought Hogan had said they would be testing all nursing home residents and staff members... I assumed family of staff would be among them, as they should. I believe that is what happened in Salisbury Friday/Saturday. Any poultry employee and possibly their family, were all tested at a drive up site without any doc referrals or appointments.

I agree. That's a clear example where your employee's husband should get tested if his wife has a confirmed case. symptoms or not.

I think thats on the states though, right? I know in MD you can't just drive up and get a test, you have to get a docs referral and have an appointment. That's not going to cut it if we want to fully reopen. There needs to be the ability to test everyone.

I think his argument is Amazon was a bad example for you to list since they've been having so many issues with PPE and the like. Now, how hard is contact tracing? Lord knows the country needs thousands of them to make calls. That'd be the first place I'd go to if I found myself without a job.

phin's arguments would go a lot further if he posted with less emotion and didn't act like an asshole all the time.
