yeah i didn't get the part about how driving 25mph will actually impact peoples lives negatively and cause commerce destruction.

but no body is doing what you are saying. you keep pushing this narrative that isn't being discussed. everyone here knows the risks and if we open too soon, or too fast, we are back to square one with another spike in cases and deaths. and you can't compare this with car accidents. you just cant.

lol EJ deleted his post

but it kind of is, you seem to be in a rush to get back to normal when we arent there yet as a country.
-
look, if you are so impatient to go out and get on with life, then go do it. dont take precautions, go back to work, go shopping (depending on whats open of course). if you want to risk your health, and anyone else you come in contact with, by all means have it. stay away from Parkton though. the rest of us will wait and see how it goes and not risk our lives because of the EcOnOmY

I don't want anyone to die, regardless of granny or grandpa. what a weird thing to say.

good point - one i think people forget. social distancing and slowing spread was to help the strain on the healthcare system. everyone getting sick at once would be a nightmare for hospitals. i mean if you think NYC has been bad the last two weeks with social distancing measures in place, can you imagine how bad it would be WITHOUT them in place? OMG it would be terrible.

but by limiting its spread, you still lower how many will die from it. its all connected. I get your POV, and i agree its all personal choice. I just don't think comparing the risk of getting on a bus to a highly contagious virus is the right comparison to make.
-
Yes but by limiting infection rate, you limit the number of deaths from it. So its all connected and dependent on what we as a society does. social distancing is working, projections are dropping because of it. we have to just suck it up for a while more, make changes in everyday life (wearing masks for example) and eventually, it will die out and only pop up during seasonal outbreaks, like the flu. I think the sooner people understand and accept that our new normal will be different and everyone will have to do their part to be more aware of spreading germs, we will all come out of this okay. rushing to go back to how things used to be, will only make it worse. you can't use job risks as a comparison. those are risks people make by choice, every day. get in a car. go to work. go on a job site. we don't have control over how the disease spreads. we just do our part to limit its spread... but you dont get a say on who gets sick. people do have a say on whether they act like idiots on a job site that could risk lives. does that make sense?

not surprised. PG County and MoCo are the most populated MD counties, followed by Baltimore County (third most cases). Hogan has also raised concerns about racial issues regarding who is getting care, and/or who has health coverage to get the medical attention they need. MD DOH released some of that data yesterday. Large percentage of african americans with covid and dying of it. I wish I had a better idea of where people live who are positive. My assumption is most cases are heavily centered in the most populated areas (duh). We've said many times that living where we do is probably helping us out a lot.

well we know that most media outlets run with the most dire headlines as it gets clicks and viewers. hopefully most people are getting their information across multiple platforms and not just the nightly news.
-
right, but thats for people who have died in a hospital. those dying at home won't be counted as part of covid related deaths until they test for it postmortem. presumptive cases are not part of the daily counts.
-
i guess there was a lot of "see, I told you it wasn't as bad as you all made it out to be" yesterday because the death projections dropped. people are dumb

well to be fair, we vaccinate for the flu and its become part of seasonal colds that we prepare and take precautions over. SARS and MERS aren't widely spread unless a big outbreak occurs and if so, then people take extra precautions to limit spread. the same will be done with covid. eventually there will be a vaccination that people will get and plan for every year as i imagine it will continue to pop up moving forward in time. regarding your last point: do you think that perhaps the mortality rate is so low because we've taken the steps to socially distance therefore limiting spread? we may never know the full scope of who got sick and died from covid since we know that there are stories of people not even making it to a hospital and are dying at home. those deaths arent included in daily counts unless they've been tested postmortem to know.

this. its going to have to be a process to open things back up and attempt to get back to normal. but it wont be normal for a while. it is a marathon, not a sprint. you open everything back up at once and we will have another spike in cases and so on.
-
what specific risk exposures are you talking about regarding every day life that would compare to a highly contagious virus that is killing people?

Hogan will be having a presser at 1230. WBAL should carry it live, for those who wanna tune in.

its okay, with the way things are going we won't be dealing with her much longer.

shes not a good teacher. weve had our issues with her over the course of the year. she doesn't reply to emails, shes horrible at schedules. and apparently, she texts a lot during class. last week mini-map wanted to play school. so we did. she gave us some art assignments (so cute) but while we were working she was on her play phone the whole time. I jokingly asked and she said "my teacher is on her phone all the time in class, so just following what i've seen" unreal
-
i hadn't looked at radar at all, it broke apart and most went south of me. oh well.
-
you're a good teacher. my kid's teacher can barely stick to the schedule she set for virtual class times. she's changed the time 3x now and then cancelled one day 30 minutes before it was to start.... let alone actually reach out to them to check how they are doing.

yeah i guess that skinny squall line finally hit here. Windy, no thunder, raining. But sun is already trying to come out behind it.

see there is a positive! mine is first grade too, so right there with you. there is only so much learning you can teach them at that age.
