  1. it wasn't terrible overnight, boring but not awful. but i knew she'd be bored out of her mind today if we had stayed home, so had her pack a bag and she's on her ipad while i get some work done. Mr map stayed home with the dogs, will keep us in the loop on the power situation. He and I barely slept, but at least the kiddo got a good night of sleep hahaha.
  2. Kiddo's camp is closed today, so we packed up and went to Hunt Valley where my office has power. So many trees down in Parkton. Power was out as far south as Hereford before we jumped off York and got on 83. A coffee from CFA never tasted so good.
  3. Still powerless. Thankfully it’s less humid out so opening the windows is quite nice in the house
  4. My favorite clouds. we were incredibly lucky at the house. Just debris and some smaller branches. Every neighbor around us has bigger limbs and branches down
  5. Mammatus clouds! Neighbor three houses north lost a shed. Coworker in Shrewsbury has a tree on his house.
  6. Yeah big rumbles. It’s a mess in my part of Parkton. Hearing trees down all over, up into PA. Neighbors all around us lost trees and limbs.
  7. Yeah trees down all over York road. Watched the county come pull them off the road. Next door neighbor lost a big one. Another had their canopy shredded. So glad we took ours down. Lot of branches and debris in our yard but no major tree damage
  8. Just before it hit. Power went out immediately. Windy as hell.
  9. Darkness approaches to my west. Power already flickering. Good luck everyone.
  10. Quick spin up along the PA line to my west. That supercell in PA is about to be devoured by the line. Distant rumbles of thunder at my house.
  11. Long lead time on those warnings. That Frederick cell is warned all the way to me.
  12. No, not a derecho. We are in the warm sector out ahead of a cold front, with some juicy parameters. Caution is always best in situations like these.
  13. It absolutely is. I was anxious about just having to travel later in it, having a safe place at the studio should we need to shelter, and all that. Just too many moving parts when people are coming from multiple areas to the studio for classes. Not worth all that risk.
  14. Made the call to close the dance studio tonight. Just not worth the risk to families. A first for me hahaha telling a business to close hahaha
  15. Friend who is in deep creek says its hailing out there
  16. yeah tornado probs not as high as it could be, the wind though is gonna be our biggest threat. contemplating whether i need to advise the dance studio owner to close tonight out of caution.
  17. If anyone wants more close up views of SPC images, https://www.spc.noaa.gov/partners/outlooks/state/MD/ Just update the state abbreviation in the URL for VA, PA, DE, WV, etc.
  18. More blue sky than clouds in Parkton, 78/73. Just did the outside storm prep work
  19. Thank you! I'm obviously the one to keep an eye on things for the dance studio
  20. you have timing on that? I can't check right now. Also -- agree on keeping things here vs a new thread.
  21. thanks. just emailed my health/safety guy at work to give him the heads up. and spoke with my boss at the studio to make sure we had a shelter in place plan.
