  1. maybe so, but that's how it goes. Watches go up first to get people's attention, then they either go to a warning or advisory depending on what's to come for each local. If you are a southerner expecting a warning, you're just silly.
  2. Mine too -- she only has class from 1015-11 tomorrow. I told her she had all afternoon to go outside and play in the snow.
  3. If LWX is going to update, they will do it in the afternoon package (3pm or so). I imagine areas under Watches right now will go to advisories later tonight. They do not update based on model runs and their schedules. NWS Offices update at certain times every day.
  4. Davis Instruments in CA being repaired. Solar capacitor shit the bed, wasn't holding a charge. Meant to send it back in March, but then covid happened and things went to shit. Anyways, hoping I have it back soon enough, took a while for them to get it. Thanks USPS!
  5. I checked after I got out of a meeting. Wasn't the worst. Better than the NAM
  6. Its fairly close. The house the station is at sits at 640', I'm above 700'. Not sure that makes a big difference.
  7. have to rely on a station about a half mile down the road from me, but 36/23 currently.
  8. I leave for an hour and the whole thread gets shut down. euro must have been terrible.
  9. Depends, is it worth hugging? I missed what it showed.
  10. Never thought I'd be hugging the GFS over the NAM with a storm 24hrs away
  11. snow is very much IMBY and I hate sleet. So f this storm. you missed us and wanted to be miserable
  12. maybe its good for you but its horrible up here. i thought 00z was awful and it still gave me double digits. 12z doesnt even give me 6 on snowmaps
  13. NAM is a disaster, again. Precip doesn't even make it up here until 7pm, and I flip to sleet by 10pm.
  14. I need to get work done, you kids behave yourself. Love, Mom.
  15. looking briefly at 06z Euro -- northern areas lose 850s around 00z tomorrow night, but bounce back pretty quickly. all in all, thats not that bad given other model outputs.
  16. it could still adjust east. we are 24hrs or so from start for our far southern people. but having realistic expectations is good, its going to be warm for the usual places, and cold for the usual places. a mix in between. i know i am going to sleet. probably a lot. happens every coastal. but snow is snow so im happy with whatever i get.
  17. absolutely! its the most snow many of us will have in over a year and we should be happy with what falls. it does sorta sting knowing it could have been so much better. of course, the storm hasnt started yet and its possible the low goes back east a bit. but we should def try to look at the bigger picture
  18. Morning! pivotalweather -- they have free soundings
  19. I'm expecting a good front end thump, then a period of sleet, then maybe some stuff on the backend. I honestly don't think I'll get to the 12" mark NWS, and most everyone, has me at. that warm layer always makes its way back to my area while the best snows happen just to my west in carroll county.
  20. NAM Nest is toasty -- worst sounding for me, wednesday night. stupid warm nose.
