youre better than me, i just ignore that stupidity in his posts. but his MD comment was true, MD DOH was pushing back on releasing nursing home information

well, i think it should still be something people acknowledge. but its not a useful metric to reopen. people are going to get this, even after we reopen. its in the community, and has been for some time now, before Mid-March. Hell, many of us may have had it and we didn't even know it. More and more stories of people being ill with covid-like symptoms in December and January. WBAL did a whole thing on it yesterday. One of their own anchors was out sick with awful flu like symptoms but tested negative for Flu A and B. I think he was going to be doing the Quest Diagnostic anti-body test that is available.

Yeah not sure why MD DOH was doing that. I think Hogan got on them about it though...

if it wasn't widespread, we wouldnt be seeing % positive rise thats good! and we need more of that. more tests = more negative = drop in % positive.

Yes, there will be those who are recently positive that will require hospitalizations. not everyone will of course, which is why hogan isn't using it as a metic. and correct, as far as i know, you can't just go get a test. i have no idea who they are testing, i assume only those with symptoms. but they may be contact testing too, who knows.

because its widespread and to be expected. its going to be some time before we see that go down.

maybe. i'm not even sure whats the argument anymore. the state isn't testing enough. until we do we arent going to be seeing a decline % positive, or positive cases.

I agree. Was just sharing the post, not that I agree with it.

i may not be the best math person out there, but if we see a rise in positive cases, % positive is going to rise too until we test enough people to level it out. More you test, more negatives will be found, thus lowering the % positive. We aren't there yet.

and its going to continue to rise as we test more people. why are we going around in circles?

    COVID-19 Talk

mmmmm not sure, but ill take your word for it. in the end, our positive cases are going to continue to rise as we test more residents. and it should be expected every time there is an update. it shouldn't be a metric for reopening and it shouldn't be something to fret over.

any tests given this week wouldnt have come back that fast, i don't think.

but thats you assuming it isn't widespread. its been widespread and until you test everyone you will never know how widespread it actually is.

we have no idea when those people were tested. the lag plays a huge role on getting a clear picture of whats going on. i keep repeating this but it doesnt seem to be sinking in. Case numbers are going to continue to rise and more and more are tested. Hanging on by case numbers and percentages gets us no where fast.

    COVID-19 Talk

remember, number of cases is not a metric being used to gauge reopening. cases are going to rise as more people are tested.

you know, its funny you mentioned that. i had a virtual visit with my primary doc monday, and he asked me about my kid. when i was bringing her in for a well-visit. I told him not any time soon, that her visit can wait. he seemed huffy about it.
