Not sure if its been mentioned, but something brought to my attention on twitter is the dry air ahead of the WAA and how quickly it erodes as precip moves in.
so... yay.
Regardless of how long it snows, the WAA thump will come in hot and heavy, 1-2" snow per hour rates for a time before the god awful flip to sleet. Sleet is stupid.
Sue is wonderful. I had the opportunity to intern with her for a summer while in college. That internship put me on my path of cartography and GIS as I got to make the graphics for her that went into her weather hits. I was terrible on the green screen lol. She was a joy to be around, knew her weather stuff and you could tell she was very comfortable in her role. I haven’t been able to watch on tv for years since I’m not in the DC tv market.
places further north will hold on to the column a bit longer than places south. it will probably even out when all is said and done, as it will be snowing in DC before it snows up our way. But we won't mix as soon as they do.
you should have felt good days ago, friend. we are good.
Even the hours where temps and the warm nose are being a pain, if rates are good enough, it won't matter.
Can't speak for out your way, but I looked at soundings on the GFS for up here, there is the most subtle warm nose at hr87, with temps at 30/31. By 90 I'm at 32, but it would probably be paste bombs.
