  1. Roads were flooded in Hackensack around 10:30 this morning. Breaks of sun now in the Parsippany area.
  2. I may be west of the NYC/NJ metro area.(40 miles). It's raining.
  3. Woodstove will be required on Mother's day!
  4. Beautiful out. Solid 4" pack remaining. Birds chirping at the feeder. Sun doing some work on the southern facing roofs.
  5. 8.5" measured at 6:15 am. Driveway shoveling was a tough slog. Compaction in full effect now. Was concerned about the cold temps progged and the resultant glacier if I didn't get the driveway (stone/dirt) cleared.
  6. At least .25" out here. Everything in sight is sparkling. Thankfully, not cracking.
  7. Colder morning than I expected. 24 right now. My folks are up in Vermont outside of Fair Haven for the weekend, it was 2 degrees at 9:00 am.
  8. Because I'm being lazy (and swamped with work) what are we reasonably looking at for tomorrow? Mt. Holly has my area 3-5", others 5-8". My truck is currently down due to rusted brake lines I haven't yet repaired; so I'll be riding my trusty 2007 civic!
  9. -6 was the lowest. New personal record in my Chester house. Coldest ive personally experienced was -20 in Loon Lake, NY I think sometime in 2010...
  10. -4... coldest night in Chester, NJ since I moved to town in 2014.
  11. Turned to snow when I got to town at 5:00. Was all rain from Parsippany through Mendham. Agree with it coming down now; fresh inch in the past hour.
  12. State Courts in Morris and Sussex closed at 3:00...I am not kidding.
  13. There's ice on the edges of the Delaware south of Trenton. Saw it this morning on my drive south. Btw...toaster bathes are in demand in the main forum. I've seen it bad before, but this year is nuts.
  14. Fines? Also wood stove is cranking. Down to 23 from a 12:30 pm high of 37.
  15. Finished with 1.5"...90/10 freezing rain/sleet now
  16. 32/19 now...dp slowly dropping from this morning. Winds seem out of the east/southeast. Stranger things have happened, but I'm not expecting much.
  17. 26/20 down this way. Main thread is canceling this storm and the remainder of January. I love those guys. Model to model calls.
  18. 1/2". Flurries continued when I left home around 7:30.
  19. I'm still struggling with how the lp center pushes as far north as modeled before exiting stage right. It's like the models found the weakness in the hp and are determined to press into it. Snow googles for me; but I dread the amount of ice progged down here.
  20. Appreciate the welcome. The main forum just reads like a "measuring" contest more often than not. There are a lot of great posters in there, and the mods do a great job filtering. Nice to catch a break from the hostility though. Cheers!
  21. The main forum is tough to slog through; I may just stay here. You gents are well north of me, which means you will see the best the show has to offer this time. I'm in southwest Morris County; about 40 miles west of the city as the crow flies... Thinking ice and a lot of it, is in my future. Good thing I split enough wood to last a while when the power goes out.
  22. A few minutes late on this, but there was also the fabled "Polar Vortex" of January 2014. I am still dealing with the aftermath (by dealing, I mean thankfully busy) in defending multiple lawsuits arising from slip and falls to property damage claims due to freeze ups and pipe bursts.
  23. Someday, I will get out to the Black Hills. My great-great grandmother is buried out near Lead, South Dakota..she died giving birth to one of my great grand fathers siblings around 1900. They had been living in the area since the 1890s. After her death, my great-great grandfather moved back east to Elizabeth, NJ. His descendants remain in North Jersey. I came across an old photo of them in a conestoga like wagon, simply incredible to me.
